The Army should be very embarrassed by promoting Karpinski past the rank of captain.

I'm thinking she might have been out of her element as soon as she got to 1st Lt. She was a freakin' GENERAL and had that little command over her troops?? Gimme a break. (My chief would have put a quick end to any of that crap before the ensign even knew it happened.)

You got that right. I did 6 years in the Navy as an enlisted guy. Anybody I was ever under on the E-7 to E-9 level would have stopped this stuff faster than you can say Jack Robinson. I think a lot of this stuff at Abu Gharaib was made up. You occasionally get a do-nothing senior enlisted guy but I do not believe for a minute that this kind of stuff was going on with EVERYBODY looking the other way, especially when the commanding General is walking right through the place.

Janis Karpinski would have us believe that her junior officers and enlisted people were screwing off, shooting machine guns, and skylarking right in front of her like they didn't even know she was there. Yeah, right!
