Support The Moms of Our Troops (Blue-Star Mothers and Gold-Star Mothers)
National Ledger ^ | August 26, 2005 | Marie Jon'

Though they don’t receive nearly the amount of coverage that Cindy Sheehan has enjoyed, America needs to recognize the sentiments of its Blue-Star and Gold Star Mothers. Blue-Star Mothers are those who have grown sons and daughters serving in the armed forces, and Gold-Star Mothers are those who had sons and daughters who have died while serving their county in the armed forces.

The other day a Blue Star Mother took up the cause to speak out against the lies and distortions of Cindy Sheehan. Deborah Johns represents the patriotic Blue Star Mothers. Blue Star Mothers along with Gold Star Mothers from all over California are gathering to protest the words and actions taken by well publicized anti-war activists for the Democrats and the “cut and run” crowd.

Cindy Sheehan and her ilk will have to face these mothers that have plenty to be proud of and plenty to say to the one who has messed on her own country's doorstep while denigrating the name of her son Casey Sheehan, a hero who died in Iraq a year ago.

Most Americans do not understand that it is against regulations for those in the armed services to voice their political views. As a result, our troops In Iraq and Afghanistan have felt totally helpless as the media and a number of those in our legislative halls speak out against their Commander-In-Chief. American troops are also very angry at the way their mission in Iraq has been negatively portrayed in the media. These unwarranted attacks discredit their good and noble efforts in Iraq.

I spoke to a Blue Star Mother in Modesto, California who expressed her deepest feelings. Strangely, this mother's views were a bit of yesterday being repeated.

The attitudes of some reminded her of the darkest days of Vietnam, with troop bashing from John Kerry and the ugly anti-war antics of Jane Fonda, who was only too pleased to become a “poster child” for the Vietcong!

In the late 60's it was the anti-war, “cut and run” crown that denigrated our troops who were honorably serving their country in Vietnam. Not surprisingly, our media used the very same despicable tactics then that it is attempting to use now, often portraying those who served in Vietnam as a bunch of drug-addicted losers.

Certain movie producers recreated our honorable vets as crazed baby killers who raped Vietnamese women. And who can forget how John Kerry brazenly lied about his fellow troops during that congressional hearing? Nor did he ever apologize for his miserable actions. Ultimately Kerry, as well as Jane Fonda, aligned themselves with the communists in Vietnam who were brutalizing and killing their own people.

As the result, the incessant attack by our own media against the war helped to foster and fuel an anti-war sentiment among the American people who eventually turned away in disgust. We lost the war because we lost all hope and resolve to finish the noble job of saving the innocent ones that needed us so much. These very same Vietnamese people were left to die and suffer under the communism that completely overtook their nation. And to this day, Vietnam is under communist rule, thanks to the anti-war activists.

The mothers of our troops fear that when their sons and daughters come home that they also will be spat upon and accused of heinous actions, as were the Vietnam veterans. This is why politicking the circumstances of a war is worse than disgusting and divisive. It is a total betrayal of the country.

God bless our troops who have willingly joined to serve in Iraq and Afghanistan. Yes, it is very true that the Iraqi people of all ages openly show their appreciation of the troops and their fine and noble intentions. America has done well in setting the captives free, more than 50 million of them! Iraq represents a whole different picture from the Vietnam “quagmire” that the left in this country wish to convey. The real story in Iraq is seen among the people who enlist and serve as to protect their own country. Soon, the proof will be in their own constitution, Iraqi style

Let freedom ring, thanks to Blue Star Mothers and Gold Star Mothers who gave birth to, and raised, America's best and bravest. Cindy Sheehan, you don't speak for these mothers!

We support ALL of the moms of our troops. What we DON'T support is sedition and treasonous talk that gives aid and comfort to the enemy like Cindy Sheehan and the rest of the Marxist types down in Crawford are doing. God bless our troops and god bless the moms of our troops.

The Moms deserve as much of our support as the troops. They have raised their children to be patriotic and for them we have a strong military. Bless all the Moms of our troops, alive and with God.

***....When asked about what gives him the strength to keep going day after day Fuller said is the love of his wife, his admiration for the Marine Corps and the constant support of caring people in the U.S. who take time to send him a note and thank him for his service.

“I’m a Marine with all my heart and everybody knows this, but my first words were not ‘Semper Fi,’” he said, speaking about the Marine Corps’ motto—Semper Fidelis, which is Latin for ‘Always Faithful.’ “I had to grow into this uniform and I take great pride in wearing it. Waking up every morning and putting on this uniform puts a big smile on my face.”...***

While the anti-war "notice me - notice me - it's all about me" crowd and the vile anti-American media spend enormous amounts of energy spewing hatred, there are some special Moms here in the Houston area quietly making a huge difference for our heros. Let me tell you a little bit about them...

There are several local community action groups formed by a common bond of family members being military. They are all volunteers, and their groups are non-profit. Their members belong to Blue Star Moms – which have active military family members and are nationally known, the Houston Marine Moms, and others. These Moms work together to provide encouragement, love and support and as much of “home” to our heroes as they are able to. They accomplish this mission in the following ways:

The media has tried this already, and failed. The NY Times featured Abu Ghraib for over a month, then Gitmo after that. You'd be hard pressed to find too many people bothered about it right now.
