Well... the concept was great. Its execution leaves a lot to be desired. Those aren't 'award-winning' illustrations where I come from.
I'm sure someone saw this as a way to make a quick buck. "Let's create a children's book to sell to the Ann Coulter & Rush Limbaugh crowd". While that's not a shock, the last thing we need is for parents to start teaching their kids to dislike other people for yet another reason. What's next? Help Mom, there are gays in the closet? Help Mom, there are Jews in the bathroom? C'mon. Let's give the kids a chance to grow up and make some of their own decisions, rather than trying to indoctrinate them in preschool.
This book is far too complicated for right wingers. It actually has words.
This is brainwashing propaganda that teaches children to hate and not be open to other's ideas and opinions. A parent that "wants to share their traditional values with their children" would have more sense than to share those values in this way. These aren't values; teach your children that everyone has different opinions and a God-given American right to those opinions. Just because one's opinions and "values" are different from the authors, doesn't mean they are wrong or aren't traditional. What publisher publishes this kind of garbage? Boycott the publisher, don't waste your money. This isn't conservative; this is lunacy. A true conservative wouldn't write garbage like this. And a real writer wouldn't use a PEN Name. Katharine DeBrecht, or whatever your real name is, have some guts and stand behind the filth that you write, please let us all know who you really are. You are showing strong "values" when you can't even put your own name on your work.
