Pentagon Probing Able Danger Lawyers

The Pentagon has launched an investigation to determine whether Clinton administration lawyers blocked a military intelligence unit code named Able Danger from sharing with the FBI critical information on Mohamed Atta and three other 9/11 hijackers a year before the 9/11 attacks.

"Because this happened in a previous administration, the Pentagon right now is trying to get their hands around what actually happened and who was involved," Rep. Curt Weldon told ABC Radio host Sean Hannity on Thursday.

Weldon said that Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer, the Able Danger team member who came forward this week, "had a good meeting with [Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence] Stephen Cambone and Gen. Schwartz on Monday where they really laid it out." "Secretary Cambone told him - 'Look, we need to know what really happened here because this all happened in a previous administration and so we don't know all the details,'" Weldon said.

Lt. Col. Shaffer, who also spoke with Hannity on Thursday, confirmed the Pentagon investigation, saying: "There's good progress being made at the Pentagon to try to confirm what I'm saying. I'm very hopeful that a lot more of this - the truth is going to come out very soon."

Asked if he knew whether the lawyers who blocked Able Danger's intelligence on Atta were Clinton appointees or holdovers from a previous administration, Lt. Col. Shaffer said:

"I don't [know]. And that's one of the mysteries which now, both the Department of Defense and the Department of Justice are probably going to have to look at; to figure out exactly who these people were and what the nature of their contacts were."

Asked whether his Able Danger team ever had contact with Jamie Gorelick, who served as general counsel at the Pentagon before becoming deputy attorney general in 1994, Shaffer said, "Not that I recall. I do recall some of the lawyers names and she was not one of them."

"Most of the lawyers we dealt with would not have been at that level," he explained.

Maybe it will finally come out that the Clinton politicizing of National Security for f*cking poll numbers cost thousands of Americans their lives...

Congress will circle the wagons and this will go no where. They are at each others throats for the looks of the public but they cover for each other when it is their necks in a sling. In general Congress cannot be trusted to find the truth.
Bush has covered for Clinton and his father ever since he was elected. All real bumbling on Capitol Hill is covered up.
Fact is Congress and the President represent the everyday American less than anyone else.Jamie Gorelick and Tim Rhoemer were put on the 9-11 panel just to cover Clinton and the Republicans put there were for the first Bush. America will never get the whole truth!

I still would love to see Slick Willie in an orange jumpsuit. He deserves no less for what's he's done to this country for his (and his "wife's") personal gain. They're the lowest of the low.

"Asked whether his Able Danger team ever had contact with Jamie Gorelick, who served as general counsel at the Pentagon before becoming deputy attorney general in 1994..."

This is the wrong question! The questions should be as follows:

1) What directives and policies did Gorelick put in place and leave behind as DOD General Counsel to handcuff the military as she handcuff law enforcement at DOJ. (Any "wall" memos?)

2) Were any of the pentagon lawyers involved in silencing Able Danger either appointed by Gorelick while at DOD or recommended by Gorelick after she went to DOJ?

The moving vans should be lined up in front of the pentagon ceasing evidence before the Clintonistas have a chance to steal or destroy it.

Keeping Hillary's infected carcass out of the White House is much more important. This will hopefully be the wooden stake that takes care of her 08 campaign.

I think Sandy Berger already got rid of some of the evidence. Perhaps the clinton appointees at the pentagon contacted him for advice.

I do, too. There are layers in archives. Copies here and there, originals, disks etc. There likely was some infiltration someplace else.

Not for nothing, but I believe the Bubba ABSOLUTELY knew about Able Danger, Hillary found out and Berger did the dirty deed.

Remember Linda Tripp and Monica...They both worked at the Pentagon. I believe Linda was there until Jan of 2001 when Bush took office.

Now, what are the chances that any documents related to this were not shredded?

I think a lot of what you say is true, but I disagree about it being suppressed again. I don't think the families of those who died will allow another whitewash.
Especially after seeing how the 911 Whitewash Commission has reacted to these allegations.

bump

WHY DID BILL CLINTON IGNORE TERRORISM?
Was it simply the constraints of his liberal mindset, or was it something even more threatening to our national security?

I am gratified that movement is underway to determine which lawyers blocked the sharing of information with the FBI - career Pentagon civil servant lawyers or Clinton appointees. There is a huge distinction between the two and the resulting political ramifications.

More - Fox news Katherine Herridge reporting on the investigation....says there's a smear campaign going on re: Col. Shaffer. Shaffer is saying he knows of at 3 AD team members and curiously, no one in the Pentagon has contacted them regarding this document search.

No, really? Who'da thunk it? I would love to see the political hacks who are smearing Col. Shaffer get screwed. I would love to see them lose their political jobs and wind up working in Starbucks.
