Cheney's odds up for presidency

United States vice-president Dick Cheney has seen a sharp improvement in his odds for the presidency in 2008, but he trails three other possible candidates, the online betting service Sportsbook.com said on Wednesday.

Odds on Cheney have improved from 100-1, when betting on presidential candidates opened in May, to 20-1, said the British-based betting firm, which cited comments from Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward that Cheney would likely run for president.

But Sportsbook said Democratic senator Hillary Clinton remains the betting favorite, with odds improving from 6-1 to 7-2.

Former New York mayor Rudolph Giuliani is the Republican favorite with 10-1 odds, ahead of Republican senator John McCain, at 12-1, said the service. Secretary of state Condoleezza Rice has gone from 15-1 to 25-1 odds.

Illinois Democratic senator Barack Obama now sits as a 70-1 bet from an opening line of 30-1.

Well, since Cheney has ruled out running, I'd put the odds at 1023:1.

"But Sportsbook said Democratic senator Hillary Clinton remains the betting favorite, with odds improving from 6-1 to 7-2."

1. Senators don't win presidential elections.

2. Hillary's "you're going to have to give things back for the common good" line will kill whatever chances she had anyway.

I think a Cheney/Rice ticket would be unbeatable.

However, I doubt he will run.

Bigtime has had enough of this politics nonsense.

He's more than earned the right to retire comfortably.

Change his oil, rotate his tires and Cheney's good for another 100,000 miles.
