Disabled man beaten in small town (LOWRY CITY, Mo)

LOWRY CITY, Mo. -- Someone beat a disabled man. It's a crime that people don't expect to happen in a small town.

Some of the man's painkillers have disappeared, but clues are nowhere to be found.

We want to warn you some of the video is disturbing. The man’s family wants you to see the video, in hopes of finding the person or people responsible for this brutal attack.

The beating happened at the Castle Court Complex in Lowry City, a place for disabled people and seniors. Juanita Miller’s husband runs the place but she was asked to check on her younger brother Gino. When she went inside, she found him beaten and bloodied, lying on the floor behind his couch. He had been there for at least a full day and his prescription painkillers were gone.

“I was in hysterics," said Miller. "It’s a wonder I didn’t faint.”

He was sent to St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City. Barely recognizable, he was on life support for two days. His family braced for their goodbyes.

“Whoever did it, I hope they get them and get justice done,” said Miller.

Gino is now out of the hospital.

“I have injuries to the head, my throat, my neck, bruised-up ribs, bruised-up arms, and my spine is kind of touchy,” he said.

He’s also partially blind and said he can’t remember a thing, which is an obstacle to the town’s only police officer. This worries Gino.

“I’d like for justice to be done," said Gino. "I’d like the officers to find these people and get justice done because, if they can do this to me, they can do this to anybody here. There are a lot of good people here.”

Gino said someone took away more than his medicine. They took away his sense of security in a town where things like this usually don’t happen.

Lowry City’s lone police officer is getting some help on the case from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department. The family said it will offer a reward for the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible.

I assume it was local drug addicts who knew he had prescription drugs.

in a small town, only a few people would have this info and the local cops probably know who the local druggie losers are.

Powder..Patch..Ball FIRE!

If it was me who got beat like that I'd tell the cops I didn't remember who did it either.

And then they would have a terrible accident....

We almost moved to this town from St. Louis when I was young. My father passed on a chance to become a pastor there. The whole town is about a mile square.

Hope they find the creature and lynch him! I have absolutely no sympathy for the drug addict who did this!

I wonder if they've had a new mega-housing development go up nearby. I live in a small town where until very recently, nobody locked their doors. The farmland just across the county line was sold and turned into housing for yuppies who wanted to move out of Philadelphia without getting out of the city.

It sounds like a great place to raise kids. I wonder if this is a one-time occurrance, or a sign of things to come.

The family said it will offer a reward for the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible. And I'll pitch in $50 to whoever drags the people responsible for this into the Sheriff's Department by their sack.

As long as I don't have to touch it. Can I use one of these?

Sure, they know who did it, but come on, they can't just walk in and arrest the local head of the Democrat Party and the Democrat Mayor! After all, they're Democrats! Don't you see?

"I’d like the officers to find these people and get justice done because, if they can do this to me, they can do this to anybody here.”

Possibly, but not necessarily. Usually they aren’t interested in a duel or contest. All they want is your (painkillers/whatever). You were probably the easiest mark handy and they very well might not have attacked someone else, depending.

That said, I’ve lived in plenty of small towns and yes, unless it was a stranger drifting through, everybody in town probably has a darn good idea who’s behind it. Problem being that he can’t remember S and unless they can get some prints or something they’ll skate.

As for the “graphic pictures” – please. Haha. I’ve woke up looking worse than that after a night of bar hopping.

Incidentally, did anyone notice the rock that sister was wearing….

I thought it was going to be a video of the actual attack. I wonder how releasing this would help find the criminal(s)?

I think it's purpose is to garner sympathy for the victim, in the hopes that more attention will lead to more clues. Or, they just like attention. Anyway, it got my attention.

Yup, and I bet that darn good idea will get tested out soon. It won't take long for the town sh*thead to get some visitors, especially in a small town like that. Besides, it looks like there's plenty of forensic evidence in the apartment.

Another instance where there's no substitute for a gun. He should acquire one. It would allow him to be prepared if they come back (which 'easy-mark' scumbags like these are very prone to do), and it would certainly help restore the...er..."sense of security" they took from him along with his "prescription drugs."

I agree with you completely. Well, except for one minor thing.

The beating happened at the Castle Court Complex in Lowry City, a place for disabled people and seniors.

I think the druggie will pick a different house next time. It seems there are plenty to choose from. I hope next time, he chooses the one that gets him killed.

"The beating happened at the Castle Court Complex in Lowry City, a place for disabled people and seniors."

Yes...which generates the idea that Lowry City should assist every disabled and/or senior person at Castle Court Complex, who is both physically and mentally qualified, to own and use a firearm, and publicize the fact. Methinks the best deterrent is if them folks are a-packin'! They could even have a name...how aabout the "Silver Pistols." :-)
