If we send our boys to die for strangers, what more should we do for our own people?

The reason they (marines) were in Beruit in the first place was...ironically...to rescue the maggot sociopath arafat and his maggot PLO terrorists from certain annihilation by the IDF. Had Pres Reagan NOT sent the US Navy/Marine Corps to the rescue, the world could have been rid of arafat 22 years ago and 241 US Marines would not have died at Beruit. I never could understand what the hell Reagan was doing rescuing arafat.

The PLO had already been evacuated by 30 August 1982. The Marines returned to their ships on 10 September 1982. The Marines were redeployed on 23 September 1982 to Beirut after the assassination of President-elect Bashir Gemayel, the slaughter of Palestinian refugees by the Christian Phalangists and the Israelis invading West Beirut. The MNF was composed of the Marines, Italian and French troops and were later joined by a small British force.

241 US Marines would not have died at Beruit.

220 Marines, 18 sailors, 3 soldiers were killed on 23 October 1983. A total of 267 American servicemen were killed in Beirut.
