I'm Hot.

That's what Kristen Maddox's tank top declares, in bold red letters.

MOLLY CORFMAN / Knight Ridder News Service Madeleine Maddox (above) holds a T-shirt that promotes Helping Our Troops, a group founded by her daughter, Kristen. The group sends personalized care packages to U.S. soldiers stationed overseas. She's gotten marriage proposals from admiring visitors to her Web site.

Maddox may be 21 and she may be attractive, but she isn't trolling for dates. Her heart belongs to U.S. troops.

"I want them to understand that my generation cares," Maddox said.

The "Hot" stands for "Helping Our Troops," a nonprofit organization Maddox founded in March that she believes is the only one of its kind in the nation.

From the Land of Fruit and Nuts, here is a young lady who gets it. There is hope for our nation yet, with kids like these growing up in the People's Republic of California.

I searched FR for this, didn't find it, so I'm posting for the very first time. Be gentle.

Daaaaaaaaaaaayum.

Well, she'll never have a shortage of suitors from among the military community, between her looks and her activities with HOT, that's for sure!

You did a good job. Only one complaint, though. You didn't post a picture of Kristen. We'll let it slide. This time. ;->

the pic is in the article, and I've seen people slapped around for redundancy and wasting bandwidth so many times here... I was terrified! ;)

Good looking, good student, good person and believes in our troops. Kudos to her parents for raising such a fine young lady and American. Applause to Kristen for being such a motivated young lady.

"Awesome!!!"

I'd have to agree, for multiple reasons. I'm a native of California, and left there in 1973 because it was getting way to liberal for me. Having a young lady raised there in that atmosphere (which has NOT changed, as I determined last summer while I was visiting my Mom) doing something like this gives me hope for America's future.

Getting her some support for this project while I'm too broke to send her some $$$$ seems like the least I can do for my kids. (not those of my body, but the ones I trained while I was on active duty, and who are training the next generation now.)

I'm also working on being a secondary Ed teacher, and seeing what can come out of a very liberal area eases my mind considerably. I taught a Government class to HS Seniors last semester as part of my student teaching internship, with a serious mix of liberal and conservative students, here in Oklahoma.

Not to mention that she is, indeed, hot. I'd have tried to date her when I was a young GI, too.
