I have long contended that the quickest and easiest way to tax revolt is to end withholding. If people actually had to write a check for their owed taxes the world would change virtually overnight.
You won't write a check with this plan. It's a "national sales tax" -- levied on purchases. And it's not individual excise taxes, but a federal sales tax across the board.

And have the employee actually pay the "employer's"
portion of the FICA (which we do, but it's hidden).
A revenue-neutral FairTax will have a rate high enough to
get people's attention, and increase outrage at pork
(like the recent highway bill) and subsidies to
anti-American institutions (like the UN, NPR, PBS,
and 87% of charities).
Works for me, and I'm really keen on eliminating the
need for us to be a nation of tax accountants. It
seriously impairs our national competiveness in the
world market.
I want to ask this..if the witholding tax was repealed in 1944 by congess, then why is it still in force?
Taxes should be due the day before elections.
You're absolutely right. Withholding is big government's best friend.
As for ending withholding? LOL. Only in my wildest dreams.
