yea you need to read Steve Forbes Book
I have read the Steve Forbes book. He also admitted two weeks ago that his flat tax is not revenue neutral and will create a deficit for 3-5 years. The flat tax is 24.65% including FICA and continues to tax business at the same rate who then pass their tax on to us. So we are essentially paying close to 50%.
In 1986 we had a flat tax with two deductions - charity and mortgage interest. It has been tweaked to what we have now. The same people who got that passed are the same ones who want it done again.
