Woodward forsees Cheney-Hillary fight in 08
The Aspen Times ^ | August 10, 2005 | Catherine Lutz

Posted on 08/10/2005 9:25:43 AM PDT by kubla

Woodward's half-hour talk, punctuated several times by well-received jokes, was followed by 11 questions from the audience. He theorized that Hillary Clinton would earn the Democratic nomination in 2008 and would run against Dick Cheney, and he rejected the likelihood of a third party being a threat to Democrats and Republicans.

Seriously, does anyone remember the Cheney/Edwards debate? OR the Cheney/Lieberman debate? While seeing John Edwards get his hat handed to him was one of the highlights of my year, the sending Lieberman back to the Senate line wasn't exactly a slouch either.

The reason Cheney will not run is his heart. The American people have gotten really weird about people who might die in office, though many have by natural and unnatural causes. It's like we want a President who is a super hero.

Condi Rice would be an excellent choice in terms of debating Hillary. She was most excellent in defending her cause to the 9/11 commission, another highlight of my year.

My prediction for the Dems: Clinton/Bayh
My hope for the Pubbies: Cheney/Rice or Tancredo
My prediction for the Pubbies: Rice/some white married govenor who is strong conservative but not well known through the MSM

There is ONE way to get Cheney to run...Bush retires ( for what reasons?) after the 2006 elections, Cheney steps up...names Rice as his VP..and then he announces that he will run in 2008, but only for one term..

I could see Cheney running for one term with Condi as VP and then Cheney retiring in '12 and Condi running for President in '12.

Did some top FBI agent call him and tell him?

New Definition of reporter: (1) stenographer for the FBI and assorted powerful liberals. (2) High level press release recipient.

The Dems should have Hillary run in 2004......Even if it was as VP. They might have picked up a couple of seats.

It would have at least given the Dems some National numbers.

And who would be the VP for Hillary. Do you think anyone of the top guys will give up the Prez nomination to be her bootlicker? I don't think so. She'll have to pick Dean or a Wesley Clark. Dean is around for visibility...no other reason.

P.S. I don't think she'll get the nomination.

If Hillary runs, she'll be opening a can of worms -- and without the goons to put the lid back on.

Put her on a national ticket - top or bottom and the GOP will rake in more money than they'll be able to spend. And she'll drag the ticket down. For us, it's a win-win.

Has Woodward been hitting the booze or dope (or both?).

I hope Cheney doesn't run, because I would have to vote for somebody else (I'm not a fan of recycling politicians over and over again).

Woodward at least was a Republican. He was a young Republican, and was a registed Republican during the Watergate era.

Woodward used his Republican status as an in with some of the Nixon people to encourage them to leak to him during Watergate.
