U.S. Agent Accused of Aiding Illegals
THE WASHINGTON TIMES ^ | August 10, 2005 | Jerry Seper

Posted on 08/10/2005 7:35:36 AM PDT by kellynla

A U.S. Border Patrol agent accused of being an illegal alien and smuggling other illegals into the United States faces a bail hearing today in federal court in San Diego. Oscar Antonio Ortiz, 28, a Mexican citizen born in Tijuana, is charged with using a fraudulent birth certificate to obtain a job with the agency in 2001 and alien smuggling. The numbered certificate claimed he was born in Chicago, although authorities have since discovered it belonged to a man born a month earlier. Mr. Ortiz, who was assigned at the agency's El Cajon field station 35 miles east of San Diego, pleaded not guilty to the felony charges during a hearing Friday. He was ordered held until today's bail review before U.S. Magistrate Judge Anthony J. Battaglia. Law-enforcement authorities said Mr. Ortiz and another unidentified Border Patrol agent became the targets of an undercover investigation after they were overheard on intercepted telephone conversations discussing on "many occasions" the smuggling of migrants into the United States through a border area near Tecate, which they patrolled. Transcripts from the intercepted calls show the unidentified agent told a family member in May that he and Mr. Ortiz smuggled several dozen people into the country and had been paid fees ranging from $300 to $2,000 a person.

What a bunch of cowards we have pretending to be elected officials. Too scared to do something about illegal immigration, so now they just hire them.

How about the high level Government officials who "aid illegal aliens" all the time with their pro-illegal policies and non-enforcement of border control.

This guy is small potatoes.

But some of those high level government officials are Republicans, so it's okay, right?

Why is anybody surprised? The reconquestas have infiltrated every level of government. We are going to have to take back our country by force, that is, if we have the nerve to fight for it. Most liberals will just roll over and play dead though.

Stop what you're doing a second . . focus on the first sentence of this article . .

No - you're not going crazy - nobody slipped a 'Mickey' into your coffee and your eyesight didn't just suddenly play tricks on you.

This illegal alien WAS A U.S. BORDER PATROL AGENT!

======================================

The intercepted calls, authorities said, came during an investigation by the North County Regional Gang Task Force in San Diego into a suspected drug ring. Mr. Ortiz was arrested Thursday in Escondido, Calif., by agents from the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Inspector General and placed on administrative leave.

"OPM officials in Washington referred inquiries on the background checks to a voice mailbox that was full. A second call was referred to an OPM office in Pennsylvania, where a spokeswoman directed further inquiries to the same voice mailbox.""

Can anyone now say our government is even pretending to do it's job? It's just sickening.

According to his academy mates he also held a top secret clearance in the Navy, having access to information on the location of every US warship around the world.

I am wondering how many occassions it took for the investigation to be initiated.

This is an utter travesty more expected from the previous administration, though why this one is being swept under the rug by the main media is beyond me. Could it be that they refrain from kicking a lame duck because his goals happen to be theirs?

Just ruminating.

I want representatives who stand up for the people who put them in office - resisting the corruption of the "Secret Government" of lifers who convince our best and brightest that nothing can be done unless they "play ball". I'm weary of seeing the same movie over and over again: Mr. Smith Goes to Washington Hell.

And no, I'll bite the steel weenie before siding with the Rats. I'm talking about driving them out on the plank with every Neo who's dragging our country to subjugative status where we have to answer to outer-US bodies before we make decisions concerning U.S. matters and jurisdiction. Our legacy is being sold out incrementally for contributors' short term profits. The media seem to be just fine with that.
