I was on Yuma Proving Ground when a General flew in, went to the Commanding Officers office and relieved him (O-6, Col) on the spot for having an affair.

It turned out that the Col (who was single) was dating a Lt's wife while the Lt was away on TDY.

The military does not mess around with their officers messing around. It is instant punishment.

BTW, other officers heads rolled because of this action. It seems that other officers under the CO's command tried to cover up for the CO.

It happens more than most of us know. Usually, someone is quietly shown the door. This one has something else. Maybe a husband with phone recordings . . . or pictures?

The General running Aberdeen Proving Ground was relieved of his command several years ago. The military instituted an 800 number hotline for sexual abuse and sure enough it caught the general.
