Have you noticed that a lot of scientists ARE liberals?

Yes. There are also a lot conservative scientists, and you'll find some of them on FR.

And that has resulted in a boatload of junk science?

Yes. But that's because scientists are people like everyone else, and are susceptible to the same biases. The difference is, in their line of work, they are trained to recognize them better than anyone else.

Well, I believe that political beliefs *generally* follow the "hardness" of the science.

hard arts and science - like engineering - the bridge either stays up or it doesn't, TEND to be dominated by conservatives.

Softer sciences, like earth science, where conclusions are softer and tend to be less accurate because they require more speculation, tend to be more liberal. Junk science, women's studies, etc, tend to be radical liberals.

Just an general observation I have.
