Mick Foley is known in professional wrestling as "The Hardcore Legend," one of the wildest, funniest and most violent men in the history of the business. In the corridors of Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington and the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, though, Foley is better known for a hard-core commitment to wounded veterans of fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Foley has visited troops at the hospitals or made other trips for the United Service Organization (USO) in and around Washington 20 times in a 20-month period. Last night, for example, Foley took 11 injured servicemen to the Washington Nationals' game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at RFK Stadium. "It helps lift everyone's spirits when someone like Mick comes to visit," said Dale Bouck, a 31-year-old Army sergeant from Michigan who is recovering from a broken right leg. "For a guy like Mick Foley to come do this 20 times is impressive. Most of the time, we only see people once." Alex Nicholl is a 23-year-old lance corporal from Eureka, Calif. He was shot seven times while trying to clear a house and save other Marines in fighting in Fallujah, Iraq. His left leg was amputated as a result of his injuries. He loved the excitement of meeting Nationals players such as Jose Guillen, Joey Eischen and Gary Bennett, who signed autographs and posed for pictures for them before the game.

A good writer but a rank-and-file crazy lunatic.
Definitely not a Sean Hannity type of guy, he walks the walk, not just talks the talk.
Mankind probably belongs in a hospital with the troops. He had his ear ripped off during one wrestling match and got all his teeth knocked out in another.
Actually, he lost just one tooth I think.
Is he a lunatic? Probably. But he's an INTELLIGENT lunatic.
Foley supported John Kerry in the election.
Reminds me of a friend I used to know. He wrestled under the name 'The Destroyer'. He was a Vietnam vet and knew all the big time wrestlers, like Jake the Snake and Hulk Hogan and Superfly Jimmy Snuka.
I kind of wonder how he's doing lately.
Foley has some pretty messed-up legs himself.I'm amazed the guy still walks.
What was his real name?
He is a really funny writer as well.
Mick Foley, Hitman Hart, Goldberg and Stone Cold were my favourite wrestlers.
Alright, I admit it. I still watch wrestling. Are you happy? It's damn entertaining, and I don't have to apologize for it. Jerks.
Degrees in what?
His biographies were great. He has a big heart. He was a lib and supported Kerry. (Democratic upbringing in L.I., N.Y.)But, he took the Christmas trip to Iraq and met with the troops and saw what was going on and his whole attitude changed. He is a lib no more.
Are you sure he supported Kerry in reality. The only time I saw him support Kerry was on Wrestling which was just part of the storyline.
He admitted it in an interview after the trip to Iraq. He admitted that he was wrong on his stance on the war as well. He is a lib no more, like I said.
They actually had the elections as a storyline? Did they have The Rock supporting Bush and Mankind supporting Kerry? (I've heard they have some 'Muslim' wrestlers who are now the designated bad guys, maybe they were the Kerry supporters?)
yes it was Mankind supporting Kerry, and John Bradshaw supporting Bush in mock debates.
Very nice. ;) "ADRRRIANNNNN!"
