My feline testing supports this theory. Bar of chocolate sits undisturbed on countertop, while entire stick of butter gets eaten in seconds.

We have no idea what meats taste like to a cat:

candy?

I've got a Siamese that likes corn on the cob (no butter or salt)...always eats half an ear when we cook corn on the cob. He holds the cob steady with one foot and eats it row by row.

I had an older cat that liked to steal the kids Oreo's when they were babies. Bad kitty!

Boy this is really swell stuff to know. My wife had a cat one time that ate a half bag of Doritos a day. Cute huh?

I'm more interested in how much this cost the taxpayers to find out. Does anybody really care if cats can taste their candy?

I once had two cats that would fight over a corncob..
Nothing else just a corncob... and if there two or more corncobs they would fight over them all... but they didn't like popcorn..

My Houston likes rice (especially chicken flavor), ice cream, tuna, spaghetti sauce, sausage, celery, and bread. He does not like cheese. I taught him to imitate the French when he begs (both paws up).

With all the table scraps he likes, why do I bother to buy cat food?

In related research, scientists have succeeded in modifying the human genome to erase the sweet taste sense from people. While this is a promising treatment for obesity, side effects of this treatment include a person's new, strong urge to lick themselves clean, and a craving to climb into empty boxes and paper bags...

Well I've got a 10 week old kitten and I've discovered one brand of dry cat food that he doesn't like. He wants the moist cat food all the time but I give him only a couple of spoonfuls a day and the rest is Friskies dry cat food. I tried giving him a cat treat which he turned his nose up at. Though I've discovered he will get into the trash for tuna and would love to eat whatever I'm eating if I would let him.

I knew dogs liked "people" food but didn't know that about cats. My Corgi just loves raw carrots. I used to give him grapes until I found out it was bad for dogs.

My finicky Siamese prefers only aged white cheddar and will put his nose up at the prospect of Kraft slices. But when he's out for fifteen minutes I can usually find him chewing on the abdominal guts or the now headless neck of a hapless mole or chipmunk. Go figure.

My cats do like ice cream - when I enjoy a pint of the commie bastard's Chunky Monkey, I let them lick the container.

One of them will also eat potato chips.

Does this mean covering yourself in honey is the best defense against a mountain lion?

My cat, unfortunately, got off on the wrong foot and as you can see usually drinks his lunch.
