BALTIMORE, (AP) --
Sinclair Broadcasting did not violate federal election law by running portions of a documentary critical of John Kerry's Vietnam-era anti-war activities, the Federal Elections Commission announced Friday.
Suburban Baltimore-based Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc., owner of 62 television stations that reach a quarter of all U.S. households, was criticized for what the Democratic National Committee said was a plan to order its stations to show the documentary, "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal," in the weeks leading up to the Nov. 2 presidential election.
The DNC filed the FEC complaint on Oct. 12, contending that showing the film would be an illegal in-kind contribution to President Bush's campaign. Kerry's campaign asked that each station carrying the program give a similar amount of time to Kerry supporters.

Wow. The FEC really gets on top of these things...
how much money was wasted with this case?
I cannot even believe they filed a complaint -- I thought the whole program turned out to be a huge disappointment with very little meat in the broadcast.
This is like seeing a headline:
"FEC: CBS Evening News did not violate election laws with Dan Rather's anti-Bush blather"
I heard the excerpts were far from critical. Did anyone catch the program?
Since the Federal Election Commission investigated this case does that make it a FECal matter?
It probably didn't mean much to any but us rabid Kerry-haters. And those who didn't want it shown.
It had a lot more value than 99% of what we had to endure about President Bush. And they got to put theirs on every night, for free.
which is continuing to further rationalize Rather's fabrication of US Gov't records which is, last I checked still a big felony.
Sinclair caved. After all the hoopla this film turned out to have little about "Stolen Honor". Our viewing audience actually thought that it had a decided pro-kerry bias.
It also had as much in the way of segments of kerry's home war movie as it did "Stolen Honor."
CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, or MSNBC never gave President Bush equal time.
