I love Coulter but she is not the soul of the forum.
*********
Fine, War Daddy. But since you Love her, I think you share my view that one should attack her on her opinions; not on her figure or her looks. Those with an agenda on this Board, denigrated her looks and character so as to diminish her view point- that's disgusting. If one can't engage her intellectually, than one should have the decently to refrain from puerile attacks.

Does it bother you that someone here tries to have a civil discourse??? I care less how long he has been here. He is not foul mouthed and has a point that most here care not to address.

Anyway, the point is that Bush campaigned saying he would appoint judges like Thomas and Scalia.
------
He campaigned this way? I thought when asked whose views he most favored on the Supreme Court he mentioned Scalia.

IMO, I'd say he nominated a Rehnquist. Not bad. And I also predict that Roberts will be called Chief Justice of the Supremes.. when Rehnquist retires.

Most of us, by far, want FR to continue to be a conservative site for conservatives.

What you said.

It is an absolute disgrace that some posters have attacked her for her body shape; and, her marital status; and, her facial features; and, her purported drinking habits; and imputed uninformed pseudo- psychoanalysis in this vicious ad hominem attack.

People here do that kinda stuff?? I'm shocked, I tell you. Shocked!!

LOL! Nice.

But you've got to admit he was preaching a little too much. No?

Some people disagreed with Ann. Get over it. Chill out
**************
Read the thread, my friend. I disagree with Ann a lot. But when I do, I don't resort to winning my argument by referring to her as a drunkard, a hooker, ugly, skinny, lacking an Adam's apple, or that she is mentally deranged.
If they disagreed with her in the exchange of ideas, I wouldn't be posting. They tried to win their argument by attacking her viciously and personally- and thereby, influence opinion on this Board.
If you countenance that, that my friend, you are neither Christian nor conservative nor a gentleman.

It is nothing more than a republican organ.

Is that like a democrat organ? Just a bit larger and not so bent?

In his campaign and fundraisers he mentioned that Thomas and Scalia were the kind of judges he would appoint. I posted a NYT article before, quoting him in a campaign swing, but can't find it again.

Here is from a NYT editorial (excerpted):

"Imagining America if George Bush Chose the Supreme Court

Abortion might be a crime in most states. Gay people could be thrown in prison for having sex in their homes. States might be free to become mini-theocracies, endorsing Christianity and using tax money to help spread the gospel. The Constitution might no longer protect inmates from being brutalized by prison guards. Family and medical leave and environmental protections could disappear.

It hardly sounds like a winning platform, and of course President Bush isn't openly espousing these positions. But he did say in his last campaign that his favorite Supreme Court justices were Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, and the nominations he has made to the lower courts bear that out. Justices Scalia and Thomas are often called "conservative," but that does not begin to capture their philosophies. Both vehemently reject many of the core tenets of modern constitutional law."

You're totally correct. I too was disgusted at vile insults hurled at Coulter.

I came to the conclusion that there are a lot of Specter type RINO's and Liberals at Free Republic posing as conservatives. And you have to remember that school is out.

One way to disrupt this board and sow dissension is to pose as a "defender" of Bush and hurl insults and abuse at any conservative who disagrees. That way you get to smear Coulter while keeping the conservative mask on.

What would you say are the bedrock issues for conservatives? That's not a rhetorical question; I'm really just asking what you think they are.

My guess is: Pro-life, lower taxes, fewer big government programs, fewer nanny laws, pro-religion-in-schools.

What say you?

P.S. (If so, I'm with you on four of the five above).

I appreciate your passionate defense of Ann. She is and hopefully, will always be on our side. More than some people around here appear to be. Still, there is no better place for raw conservative politics than FreeRepublic. It gets rough and I clench my teeth when we start to eat our own.

"Who is a better to judge.
Mark Levin or Ann?"

Mark said that Ted Olsen and Ken Starr vouched for Roberts. Since I have my doubts about these gentlemen, it gives me pause about Roberts.

Let's hope this works out.

I dread reading what is to follow. The Coulter bashers will now do you in turn.

CYn,

I BELIEVE IN THIS BOARD. I BELIEVE IN JIM ROBINSON. I BELIEVE IN DUBYA. If I didn't, I wouldn't be wasting my time on this Friday night.

But because I believe, I will not stand by and let ingrates do what they did to Ann, in order to oppress the views of others on this Board. Beat her on the war field of ideas, that's fine. Disparage her in a hurtful and spiteful way, to attack the looks of a lady, I cannot believe for a minute that Dubya or Jim would countenance such spite.

For as long as I'm allowed to post this Board, I will post based on the principle of Christianity and conservatism upon which I believe this Board was founded. If this is not the Board's purpose, I will be glad to be eliminated.

That said, I have no fear of the assassins. If they had any intellectual ability, they would not need the long knives.
