...Iraq - low on the danger list
One of My Life's most arresting passages describes the handover meeting Clinton had with his successor in December 2000. George Bush reckoned the biggest security issues he would face would be national missile defence and Iraq. "I told him that, based on the last eight years, I thought his biggest security problems, in order, would be Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida; the absence of peace in the Middle East; the standoff between nuclear powers India and Pakistan, and the ties of the Pakistanis to the Taliban and al-Qaida; North Korea; and then Iraq."
...In his view, Iraq was worth inspecting for WMD, but the U.N. was the way to get the job done. "My view was that we shouldn't attack until the UN inspectors are finished and they can say, 'He [Saddam] did or did not comply.'" For that reason, and to help Blair, Clinton started working the phones, lobbying the leaders of Mexico and Chile to vote for the famous second UN resolution on Iraq, because it would have given Hans Blix and his team a few more weeks and might have got "America to defer military action"....
...Monica - the couch months
..."What I had done with Monica Lewinsky was immoral and foolish," he says in the book. "I was deeply ashamed of it and I didn't want it to come out. In the deposition [in which he denied "sexual relations"] I was trying to protect my family and myself from my selfish stupidity."...
"I was misleading everyone about my personal failings. I was embarrassed and wanted to keep it from my wife and daughter. I didn't want to help Ken Starr criminalise my personal life, and I didn't want the American people to know how I'd let them down....

I didn't look further. Just this little bit strikes me as exceptionally boring.
Amazing that he finally figured all that out as he was pardoning and stealing.
...so why the hell didn't you DO anything about Al Qaeda, Billy-Boy, if you're so damned smart you considered it the #1 threat?
According to the Bush administration, Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda was not mentioned in ANY of the transfer conferences.
"Man, I'll tell you what, there are a lot of hot-looking chics up here in Westchester County. Man 'o man, That Jeanine Piro is hot! No lie! 'Mr. Winky' sure would like to meet her! Damn!" -Bubba, A LEGEND IN HIS OWN MIND
That's been my understanding all along. But are you actually implying that Billyboob was lying? Shame on you! :P
B.S. He's lying again. If, as he claims, he knew these to be the two biggest threats for W, just what were the plans the all-knowing impeached former president had begun? What was he doing to preserve this country's security?
Why, he was busy freeing convicted terrorists from prison. He was busy pardoning wanted felons (donors) who had fled justice. What he wasn't doing was his job, and thankfully he was, and remains, the only elected president in the history of the country, ever to be impeached.
Lying sack of turd.
He was too busy beating his meat in the Oval office sink and stinking up his cigars. Now his wife wants a shot at the sink.
He'd rather climb a tree to tell a lie than stay on the ground and tell the truth.
"Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda was not mentioned in ANY of the transfer conferences."
NO! Richard Clarke spoke to Condi Rice about Osama and he could tell by looking at her eyes she never heard of the guy.
If you believe that story, I got a bridge...
Yes! I remember HE said HE told her, but THEY say different!
You took the words out of my mouth. Anyone who believes that clinton actually said this to Bush is an idiot. I watched the transfer of power on TV. Clearly clinton's only concern was to hog the camera just as long as possible.
It's all revisionist history -- all of it.
just a little revisionist history. If bin Laden was such on the threat horizon, as he now says, what didn't he deal with him.
They were too busy removing all the "Ws" from the keyboards...
Bubba did THAT all on his own, with the help of HRC.
