John McCain statement on Roberts SC Nomination
John McCain ^ | Tuesday, Jul 19, 2005 | John McCain

Posted on 07/19/2005 7:39:44 PM PDT by Popman

“I am pleased that the President has chosen Judge John Roberts as his nominee to the Supreme Court. Judge Roberts would bring a wealth of experience to the nation’s highest bench having served as an attorney in private practice, as an advisor and Deputy Solicitor General at the Department of Justice and as a federal appeals court judge. I look forward to a smooth confirmation process and a swift up-or-down vote for Judge Roberts.”

Sounds very positive.

Translation:

I think it means the Gang Of Seven can be counted on to shut down a Democratic filibuster if the other party is foolish enough to threaten one.

I saw that wimp Graham from SC praising the nomination on Fox. If McCain and Fox are onboard it looks like the Dems filibuster option is out since it would be overuled.

This is a good sign. McCain is one of the RINO's who signed off on the filibuster agreement. That he's praising Roberts like this means the 'Rats can't take for granted that the filibuster is an option.

Nope, McCain will not flip. He's pulling a Hillary and moving to the 'right'. It's all about his desperate desire to run for Prez. McCain knows he must appeal to conservatives and appear to bring 'concensus' to all things political (barf). Trouble is, he's too transparent to get away with it, thank God.

His last sentence is the one that really caught my eye

Seems to be telling the dems Roberts will get a up or down vote, so you better not filibuster

Of course you are right, he may wake up tomorrow, have a back flash and revert back to John McInsane

McCain was out front on this before the nomination was made, asking for a conservative. I know its strange coming from McCain.

He should go back to making Boob movies. I so distrust McJudas I'm not even happy when what he says sounds good for our side,

... like he gave me a dish of ice cream, but I don't dare enjoy it 'cause for sure he put some fricking poison in it here somewhere ...

The wind is blowing against the Democrats, and the RINOs too. McCain is just following the easy path as usual, trying to look like he is out front. Roberts is liked, respected, and full of integrity. The Dems' talk of preserving "rights" rings hollow with the recent decision by their liberal SCOTUS buddies stripping private property away from average folks. They can do nothing but caterwaul. If they filibuster, fine, they won't have the support of even their RINO cohorts and certainly not the public. They are screwed on this - even their own ray of imagined light, Plamegate, will fizzle to nothing. They are boxed in and played out.

Graham already said essentially Bush could nominate Hitler and he would still consider a filibuster a violation of extraordinary circumstances.

Did anyone hear McCain on Hannity and Colmes?

I don't think that was McCain..... I think that was Orrin Hatch.
