The Book of Mormon is a witness of the divine mission of Jesus Christ. It is consistent with ancient scriptures and offers a witness that no other work contains, namely the promise in Moroni 10:4.

“The Book of Mormon is … consistent with ancient scriptures”

Can you show me the consistency on the nature of the Mormon gods and Scripture?

God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens. That is the great secret. If the vail was rent to-day, and the great God who holds this world in its orbit, and who upholds all worlds and all things by his power, was to make himself visible,--I say, if you were to see him to-day, you would see him like a man in form--like yourselves, in all the person, image, and very form as a man; for Adam was created in the very fashion, image, and likeness of God, and received instruction from, and walked, talked, and conversed with him, as one man talks and communes with another. – Joseph Smith from King Follett Discourse

For I know that God is not a partial God, neither a changeable being; but he is unchangeable from all eternity to all eternity. Moroni 8:18

Before the mountains were born, the earth and the world brought forth, from eternity to eternity you are God. Psalm 90:2

"...and offers a witness that no other work contains, namely the promise in Moroni 10:4."

Do you think maybe that's why I don't believe it?

The cool thing about the New Testament is that it bears witness with the Old Testament.

Jesus said "the law and the prophets bear witness of me." What else was needed?

The Book of Mormon... contains...the promise in Moroni 10:4.

Okay, but where did Moroni's Golden Plates get off to? How come nobody can find them, and Mormons do not look for them any more than O.J. Simpson looks for the real killer?

namely the promise in Moroni 10:4

That passage always sounded like self-hypnosis to me...

"It is consistent with ancient scriptures..."

Except for where it is not consistent...Respectfully, here are some resources, if you choose to read them. I dated two Mormons (seperately, of course! Ha!) and liked and respected them greatly. At that point I looked into Mormonism, but could not bring myself to agree with it, based on the evidence I found. Needless to say, we stopped dating.

Here is one.

Another...

and This is the BEST one, IMO...See Corrections, Contradictions, and Errors. Actually, the whole document is very well referenced and researched, but this part of it is pertinent here.

LOL! Now that is just sad. You might want to take a closer look.
