Aspen Institute Sponsors Partisan Speech
Last week, the IFC relied heavily on the credibility of the Aspen Institute to oversee the educational and cultural programming at the IFC.
Next, the educational and cultural programming will be overseen in close conjunction with the Aspen Institute. We believe that Aspen has earned the extraordinary reputation it enjoys for engendering civilized and constructive conversation on issues that matter.
Apparently, the Aspen Institute didnt get the memo.
ASPEN, Colo. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton went on the attack against President Bush in a speech Sunday, accusing him of damaging the economy by overspending while giving tax cuts to the rich.
The Democrat from New York also accused Bush of depriving U.S. soldiers of equipment needed to fight the war in Iraq and cutting funding for scientific research.
I sometimes feel that Alfred E. Neuman is in charge in Washington, Clinton said referring to the freckle-faced Mad magazine character. She drew a laugh from crowd when she described Bushs attitude toward tough issues with Neumans catchphrase: What, me worry?
Clinton, who was speaking during the inaugural Aspen Ideas Festival, organized by the Aspen Institute nonpartisan think tank, didnt mention the presidential election in 2008. (emphasis added)
Nonpartisan? This is what the IFC and the Aspen Institute consider engendering civilized and constructive conversation?
It could have very well been a speech given by a Republican bashing a Democrat. Who gave the speech is not important, who sponsored the event and their judgement is.
The IFC would like Americans to believe that Ground Zero is safe in the hands of nonpartisan groups such as the Aspen Institute. They may as well be selling authentic Rolex watches at 42nd and Broadway.
John Filson,
The liberals get away with this because their minority voice is LOUDER than our majority voice. It IS time we get outraged and fight back!
Political Correctness and the Hate America crowd have no business being any where near the September 11th Memorial!
FReepers have a VERY loud voice and EVERY ping list needs to be made aware of what these blame America haters are attempting to do.
Thank you Calphernia for pinging your list!

Some pics of our fabulous freepers at the protest
A few family protesters are going down there every day. You can't have a big protest every day, but if you go day after day, you make your point just as well.
This turned out to be the pivotal moment of the conferenceeven the primal one. When Clinton took questions, a young man from a technology company who identified himself as chairman of Bush-Cheney 2004 in California said he was offended by Clintons partisanship. To which Clinton, without hesitation, and with some kind of predatory gleam in his eye, said, Good! From there, Clinton went on, with emotion and anger, at a level seemingly foreign to most everyone here, to rip to shreds the motives, values, and legitimacy of the Republicans.Just like his wife's complaints about the Electoral College, he's not very interested in the parliamentarian spirit on which our constitutional republic was founded, is he?

It was all anyone could talk about the next day. People seemed genuinely taken aback (some people kept offering that since it was late at night, in a bar, it didnt quite count) that one of their own might have violated the accepted codes of lofty liberal behavior.
I had to laugh at this! Acceptable codes of lofty liberal behavior? I didn't realize liberals had any codes, but I guess the more American-hating, immoral, socialist, anti Christian, etc, the better!
It was a shock, apparently, that we might be this close to real feelings. That politics could actually be personal.
Personal? Yes, the liberals have made it personal when they put their thirst for power over the safety and security of our Country and our troops! Their behavior during this time of war is indefensible and unforgivable!
The words of Ted Kennedy, Dick Durbin, Barbara Boxer, Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry and company are treasonous and none of them should be in a place of leadership or power!

You're welcome.

Guess which think tank...?
WOW! I thought the DemocRats were the party of change? Looks to me like nothing has changed since Walt Whitman's time!
LOL! Well, I do think they hate America even more than they use to.
Thanks for the laugh...although I guess I shouldn't be laughing...because it is so true!
BTTT.
Thanks for the ping!

Their second run after their hijacking of the 911 memorial appears to be promotion of the Ground Zero mosque, which is being pushed by a wingnut from Aspen Colorado and the UN.
small world...
Remember what Scooter said about Aspen trees.
No, I don’t recall.
What did he say?
In Sunday's New York Times, reporter Judith Miller described her testimony to the grand jury investigating the leaked identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame. Miller was quizzed about a cryptic letter she received from her confidential source, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby. "You went into jail in the summer," wrote Libby. "It is fall now Out West, where you vacation, the aspens will already be turning. They turn in clusters, because their roots connect them. Come back to workand life."
It made the Joe and Valerie Wilson fans go bonkers because it's vague and suggestive. Judith Miller was involved with the Aspen Institute as was Armitage and Powell and Brzezinski.
Could be he just thinks aspens- clones that they are- are pretty when they turn.
"You went to jail in the summer. It is fall now. You will have stories to cover Iraqi elections and suicide bombers, biological threats, bird flu and the Iranian nuclear program. Out West, where you vacation, the aspens will already be turning. They turn in clusters, because their roots connect them. Come back to work-and life. Until then, you will remain in my thoughts and prayers. With admiration, Scooter Libby."
