Saudi woman takes the wheel

A Saudi woman has defied the country's ban on female drivers to save her husband after he collapsed at the wheel, a Saudi newspaper has reported. The couple were driving from the city of Dammam to Riyadh when the man suffered breathing problems and passed out, the al-Watan newspaper said.

His wife grabbed the wheel and drove 15km (10 miles) to a petrol station where he was treated and recovered.

The man had reportedly taught his wife to drive during trips to the desert.

The kingdom imposes severe restrictions on women, including barring them from voting or going out in public unaccompanied by a male relative.

Saudi Arabia's interior minister recently dismissed growing pressure to allow women to drive.

Prince Nayef bin Abdul-Aziz said the Muslim country had other priorities.

Conservatives argue that if women were allowed to drive, they would be able to mix freely with men.

No wimmin drivers???
Hmmmmmm, I doubt the legislation would ever see the light of day here in America...
Nevertheless, it IS an intriguing concept!

Will the decision show Allah the Merciful or Allah the Unmerciful?

It was very brave of her to sacrifice her life for him like that. Now, let the execution begin!

Islam continues to oppress and force society backward. I cannot for the life of me see what the appeal is to any halfway intelligent person, especially women.

The man had reportedly taught his wife to drive during trips to the desert.

Hmm, guess he'll need to be punished too. 100 lashes should do it.

I hope the slut didn't speak to any men while her husband was indisposed.

You can't take the little wanton trollop's word for it. Another man would have to witness it to be true.

They need one of those high tech locks that won't let anyone drive the car except a man. Geez oh pete... First they want to vote, and now they want to drive. What's next? Lipstick?

Preventing women from driving? Saudis are plenty scared. Once women had that independence they wouldn't have to suffer the petty whims of a man.

the country's ban on female drivers

So what if the woman wants to go shopping? The man has to take her and either wait in the hot car or watch her fondle every item for hours.

Just to avoid shopping is reason enough for them to start passing out female DL's.

I cant imagine how hot those full body burkas are.

Or why saudis are so insecure that they give their women no freedom or respect.

Imagine the level of perversion in their hearts if they cannot even look at a woman without having impure thoughts.
