Johnnie C is gonna resurrect from the beyond. Lack o facts, but it would seem to me that in that situation if a shot was possible, 1 person would be designated. As you say the usual suspects are heading to the blood in the water.

If the gangstas are killing each other, wouldn't the best strategy be to simply stay out of their way? There doesn't seem to be any upside to stopping them from killing each other. All a cop does when he goes into the gangsta sections of town is risk his own life or risk his job and reputation when the race hustlers and scumbag ACLU lawyers get involved.

Looking at Chigago is doen't seem all that bad.

Chigago

June 27, 2005

Nearly 24 people shot in less than 12 hours

"We're just spinning up here,'' one detective said.

Shots rang out across the city Saturday night and Sunday morning -- from the Far North Side to the Far South Side -- with preliminary reports of nearly two dozen people shot.

There's lots of reasons to have a round land out of where you thought it would. Shooter error, of course, but there are lots of other reasons that aren't excuses.

I noted the article neglected to say an officer was shot and wounded by the suspect.

"The gangs have now spread into Orange County, had a shooting of 5 in Anaheim the other night."

Been here for a long time. Fortunately, they usually kill/injure each other.

I remember a few years ago, an incident when gang types drove down a street, and while attempting to shoot other gang types, instead hit young children.

Hispanic "macho" is very cowardly. During high school in OC (60s) virtually no hispanic was "macho" enough to fight one-on-one. Only when they outnumber somebody.

Then it was fists, feet and knives. Learning to parry a knife or a kick was a useful skill.

It's the LAPD. They believe in the Wall Of Lead theory.

After Northridge, instead of equipping officers with 7.62 semiautomatics with scopes, they started issuing unscoped M16A2s and MP5s. That tell you what their preferred doctrine is?

What happened in Northridge?

I refer to the Northridge bank robbery, where two men with illegally-possessed AK-type rifles that had been illegally modified to fire full-auto robbed a bank. The cops showed up and their getaway driver bailed. The robbers came out and started hosing down the cops and the nearby scenery, using their illegal-in-California (seeing a pattern here?) 100 round drum magazines.

Normally, this would have had an immediate and predictable ending - thugs eventually run out of ammo, cops shoot them, problem solved. Well, these two had thought it out and were wearing two layers of Kevlar armor. The cops were going for center-of-mass shots and the guys were just shrugging it off, changing magazines, and resuming fire. The cops got rifles from a local gun dealer (who later got screwed by the LAPD and government for his good citizenship, surprise) and tried that with a bit more success. Still didn't stop the guys. Eventually one went down with a headshot (after quite a while and quite a lot of expended ammo, and after he'd fled a considerable distance), another was hit in the ankle and killed himself rather than be captured.

If there had been someone there with a scoped 7.62, that would have been over quickly. Heck, an M-14 type would have seriously cramped these guy's styles. Instead, in the aftermath, LAPD concluded that the answer was MORE ineffective rounds downrange and started issuing M16A2s and H&K MP5's as full-auto trunk guns. The LAPD has never, ever, ever been reknowned for their marksmanship. They're second in inaccuracy only to NYPD and now the LASD (a recent "promotion").

You can look up more details online. It was called the "Northridge Bank Robbery".

I think you might have your towns confused.

I think your mistaking North Ridge for North Hollywood.

Bah, you're right. That would be correct, it was the N. Hollywood robbery. Dunno why I was thinking Northridge. Guess it's the the aftereffects of FR withdrawal combined with the late hour. :)

You not only have your towns confused here, but the story too.

They suspect that eventually went down with a headshot, put his pistol up under his chin and pulled the trigger himself.
