Nato troops arrest Karadzic's son

Nato troops have arrested the son of Bosnian Serb wartime leader Radovan Karadzic, who is wanted for war crimes.

Aleksandar "Sasa" Karadzic was detained in Pale, the Bosnian leadership's stronghold during the 1992-1995 war.

Witnesses said he was led away in handcuffs and a flak jacket; a hood was put over his head as he was driven away and then flown out by helicopter.

A statement from Nato said the arrest happened without incident and the operation was ongoing.

It said Aleksandar Karadzic was suspected of giving support to a war crimes suspect indicted by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia.

The statement said he "may have information vital to the goal of locating indicted war criminals or identifying their supporters".

"Fugitive war crime suspects and their supporters represent a major threat to sustained peace in Bosnia and Hercegovina and ultimately to the country's progress and development," it added.

Anniversary

The arrest comes four days before the anniversary of the massacre of nearly 8,000 Muslim men and boys at Srebrenica in eastern Bosnia. Radovan Karadzic has been accused of political responsibility for the massacre.

His wartime military commander Ratko Mladic, also on the run, is charged with genocide for the 1995 Srebrenica massacre.

Last week, international security agencies speaking on condition of anonymity told BBC Radio Four's File on Four programme that Radovan Karadzic was believed to be in a remote part of north-west Montenegro.

Peacekeeping troops in neighbouring Bosnia cannot take action as their jurisdiction does not cover Montenegro, which is part of Serbia and Montenegro.

A significant event overshadowed by the London terror strike. Pressure mounting on Karadzic and Mladic with the Srebrenica anniversary next week.

Arrest an INNOCENT man because you cannot catch your so-called "war criminal". Oh, yeah....REAL DEMOCRATIC and REAL AMERICAN!!

Sort like beating up an INNOCENT PRIEST and his young son and roughing-up the little mom....just because YOU CAN!!

Oh, yes... we should ALL live in such a FREE DEMOCRACY!!

NOT!

"Where are the arrest for the Muslims killing Christians?"

muslim-scum get away with those kinds of murders all the time... in Sudan, in Pakistan, in India, in Israel,in Russia, in Kosovo and in Bosnia.

Hey, they even got away with during WWII in Bosnia.

I say it is time to get rid of ALL muslim murderers of Christians and Jews... where ever they may be found.

They need to find out that PAYBACK stinks. Really stinks!

But then... nobody YET has found ALL the 7, or 8 or 9 or 10 thousand bodies in Bosnia... that's because they DO NOT exist and never did did exist.

You would think that much dead stuff would smell so bad you could pick-up the stench on radar from 2 miles down wind.

There are no 7, 8 or 9 thousand bodies, just that many LIES by so many bosnian muslims with a political/muslim agenda.

Maybe they ran out of them. Next time maybe they can beat-up the old ladies who used to babysit the "war-criminal" when he was a baby. Or his old Sunday school teachers.

Even when the news is bad, it's always good to hear from Jomini!

Especially when he gives me something to research like beer with a high alcohol content that had been sold in Yugoslavia and Croatia but brewed in Italy!

No doubt enjoyed with a steak and cigar at the Hippo Club in Zenica!

Now as for arresting the son for the sins of the father, this is bizarre!

Every time you find yourself getting a little shocked at the depths to which the Serb-hating Fascists will sink, just remember that these are the same type of people that approved of bombing the civilians in Belgrade on Orthodox Easter twice in the last century.

This operation included U.S. troops. Approval for American involvement in the NATO contingent tasked to hunt down Serb war criminals included such "Serb-hating fascists" as the Secretaries of Defense & State, at a minimum, and most probably President Bush.

No cluster bombs have been dropped on Serbian schoolchildren by the orders of President Bush.

You're thinking of your hero, former President William Jefferson Clinton.

Nice try with the Clinton stuff, but President Bush has been in office for almost five years and US Balkans policy under him, Rice, Powell, and Rumsfeld remains consistent with the previous administration: Get Milosevic out of power and into the Hague, prevent inter-Balkans conflicts & resultant instability, continue implementation of the Dayton Accords (& now the Ohrid Agreement), no return of Kosovo to its pre-1999 status under Serbia, apprehend the accused war criminals & turn them in to the Hague, reduce U.S. military presence, use sanctions & access to international structures to encourage Serbian cooperation & democratization, and rely more heavily on European forces for peace & stability ops.

So if I'm understanding you right here mark, it's ok for the "arrest of a son for the sins of his father" as Incorrigible put it (and well put may I add) as long as the act was committed with the approval of American Government. Don't you ever question anything your government does mark or do you blindly accept everything they do is right even when it is done in your name? You make it easier for me to understand why so many people (not governments) throughout the world dislike Americans.

OK,
You got me, on this and on failure to defend the borders, so I don't begin to agree with the President on two (very significant) issues; guess I'll just have to vote for Hitlery in '08.
