Well said. I agree with all of you, but I really fear what will happen if Iran does not become democratic soon. If Iran becomes democratic, it might actually be the beginning of game over for the Jihadists and Wahabists.

I may be cynical, but at this point, I'm very doubtful that Iran will become democratic. Maybe its just me, but I don't see the radicals and mullahs in Iran giving up their dicatorial powers without a fight.

I didn't say they wouldn't fight. And I'm not saying it will happen. But I am saying its conceivable, and it would be a good thing. If nothing else, the Iran-Iraq war was absolutely devastating and killed SOOO many adult males. Hence why Iranian demographics are heavily skewed (even more than they should be) towards the young. Therefore, if nothing else, if we can wait them out 30 years and keep funding the young democrats and encouraging democracy and freedom, then we win when the powerful embedded religious leaders all die off.

You're probably more optimistic than I am about it being conceivable. Given their support for various terrorist groups, their hatred for the US and Israel, and their hell-bent program for getting nukes, I wonder if it is feasible to wait them out for 30 years. Oh, I didn't say it would be a friendly democracy. But I do think that an Iranian democracy is possible, and that it will help to stabilize the immediate area, and undermine some of the terrorist organizations (Hezbollah).

Whether it's feasible or not to wait 30 years, I don't know. I am personally not going to bank on it. But I am saying that big changes will come to Iran, soon, for better or worse.
