Pirro, who recently announced she would seek reelection and run for statewide office in 2006, suggested that the outpouring of support could lead her to make a decision soon. "Their support and friendship will be a critical factor in my decision, which out of respect for them, I now expect to make sooner rather than later," she said in a statement.

Maybe they don't think she is such a strong candidate.

Either they haven't seen the petition or they think she's insufficiently conservative.
But whatever her faults, there's little doubt that Pirro would support Bush's Supreme Court pick if she were Senator instead of Hillary. Given New York's political makeup and Rudy Guiliani's lack of interest, she's the best feasible option.
