...prison ships. Prison ships? Forgive my ignorance, but in my brief years (considering the years that have accrued to me since) as Navy daughter, I never once heard of a secret prison ship.

Slap Ted Kennedy into a Captain's uniform and give him the command. The terrorists will be fish food in no time.

So what if this "very, very serious" allegation is true? Big deal. And it is true. Prisoners are often kept in the brigs of navy vessels while awaiting transport from one place to another, especially if captured at sea. And terrorists are often captured on suspicious vessels in the region that are boarded and searched by US Navy personel.
As you said, big deal. Ever eaten the food aboard a Nimitz class carrier? Pretty friggin' good chow!

The Zimbabwe government is bulldozing babies and the UN is worried about the well being of terrorists. Makes sense.

Does the UN suspect that terrorists are keeping prisoners secretly and illegally and torturing them to death?

Maybe that's why nobody's been able to find Osama in almost 4 years of combing caves and mountains.

but in my brief years (considering the years that have accrued to me since) as Navy daughter, I never once heard of a secret prison ship. I'm *in* the navy and I've never heard of a prison ship! As I wrote in post #23 terrorists, drug smugglers or any other criminals captured at sea may be detained in the brig of aircraft carriers operating in the region until transport can be arranged. Why would this be surprising or newsworthy?

"There are very, very serious accusations that the United States is maintaining secret camps, notably on ships," the Austrian UN official told AFP, adding that the vessels were believed to be in the Indian Ocean region. "They are only rumours, but they appear sufficiently well-based to merit an official inquiry," he added.
There are rumours that the UN is a hopelessly corrupt, anti-American enabler of terrorism. My bet is that my rumours would be a whole lot easier to prove than the Austrian's rumours.

To: USAfearsnobody
Didn't one congresswoman say that she couldn't find any signs of abuse at Gitmo but said some prisoners were removed? Heard it on Rush.Yes, Rush said that some dingbat DimRat Congresscritter dumb b*tch ALLEGED that since she couldn't find any "bad" conditions at Gitmo, that some of them MUST have been removed to foreign countries to be tortured (by implication, since American military types are such evil ones)
