I work with a guy who is gay and he says it`s well known in the gay community what Tom is. What happens is if any of it leaks out, Cruise immediately sues the living crap out of them, so everyone shuts up. He`s a freggin` joke. It is entertaining to see two socialists/liberals argue about what is true, what the truth really is...............it is also nice to see Lauer being reminded of what it feels like to be lectured to...........Cruise's time would be better spent working on his own family's problems instead of trying to micro-manage other people's lives (Jimmy Carter Syndrome).

Tom Cruise is no different than anyone else who is profoundly loyal to their belief system...whether it's religion or politics.

He is no different than Barbra Streisand speaking out on her political views. They do it with confidence bordering on arrogance...sort of the way we feel about posters on the DU site.

It might be too cooky to claim that Michael Schiavo was a
Scientologist. It might take things too far to suggest that Judge George W. Greer (a Lutheran) and George Fellos were Scientologists. These things can be said:

(1) the scientologist's philosophy is very, very pro-euthanasia... in fact, to Nazi-like extremes.

(2) The scientologists probably have more political, legal, and economic power over Clearwater than the Mormons do over Salt Lake City. Many say that Scientology has a wide influence over the political landscape of Florida. When the Clearwater Bar Association presented Judge Greer with the John U. Bird award, May 15, 2004, Scientology attorney Wally Pope—who represented his "church" in the Lisa McPherson case—was the individual selected to bestow this high honor on Judge Greer! Wally cited high ideals, personal character, and judicial competence. This prestigious award, which is the Clearwater bar's highest honor for a judge, was granted to Judge Greer for the way he has handled himself while overseeing the Terri Schiavo case!


(3) The scientologists have long been in the habit of using the judiciary to accomplish their goals (political, economic, philosophical, etc).

I will not say (although there is plenty being said on other blogs) that there is a conspiracy to influence the body politics of Florida by the financial power of Scientology. I will say that there is a cultural impact that seeps itself into the body politics.

I know next to nothing about Scientology but I do know that even Tom Cruise has the RIGHT to practice any damn religion he wants to and for some writer from the Washington comPost to make fun of it is or should be a crime. If he did that to a practitioner of the religion of peace, he would be tarred and feathered

Sounds like you need to relax. Do some reading up on Scientology. You'll discover it's impossible NOT to make fun of unless you're a real kook.

OMG, I had to stop reading the link you provided. I almost got physically ill when reading:

I have a feeling that Cruise admitted some things to the scientologists during his "clearing" or "auditing" or what ever that they now have on tape and he definitely doesn't want getting out. maybe there now blackmailing him or something. like telling him to dump his PR person and start pushing the all the cult crap. I don't thin k it's good pr for the COS though. Their Scam is now being talked about all over the net. To learn about Xenu and the Thetans used to be a big secret and cost much money to find out about, Now everybody knows.

I definitely think you're on to something. The cult knows all of Tom's dirty little secrets and has him by the balls. It's apparent Tom is being fed some funny stuff in those vitamins along with being programmed to find and recruit a young gullable rich wife for Scientology.

I looked up the Landmark Forum. It's est reincarnated. I had an aunt involved in est back in the 70s. I loved her dearly, but her family was the most dysfunctional in the bunch--big time. I don't blame est for that--the problems began long before she got involved, but new-age coping stretegies were not what they needed.

I think the main difference between est and scientology is that they were profit centers for two different men. Otherwise their techniques sound pretty similar (although I think scientology is more sinister).

There is an old saying--there is no such thing as bad publicity. Scientology is getting millions of dollars worth of free advertising. I'm wondering how Spielburg is taking all this---I imagine he wants the movie to get all the attention.

Talk about a picture being worth a thousand words! Crusie is confrontational and violating the neutral "space" between he and Lauer. It almost looks like a physical attack. Cruise is trying to physically intimidate Lauer--who is BTW not backing down. He is maintaining pretty intense eye contact. Lauer actually did a pretty good job in this interview. It's called giving TC anough rope to hang himself!
