DFU SONG: Sloop John B (if McCain is nominated, you can help Hillary and just stay home)
DFU SONGS | 6-2005 | Lyrics, Doug from Upland

Posted on 06/24/2005 8:48:28 PM PDT by doug from upland

I do not want John McCain as the GOP nominee in 2008. What if it is McCain v. Hillary? Amazingly, I have heard some on this forum say that they would sit out the election. If you do, expect Hillary to send you a thank you note just before Presidential Decision Directives start flowing to nationalize health care, put our troops under direct U.N. control, shut down talk radio, and control the internet. Yeah, that will really show them for nominating McCain. Letting Hillary win will show them good. Of course, if she wins, we will have no country left.

MIDI - SLOOP JOHN B

If they are not hearing me...I'll show the GOP
I'll hold my breath until I'm turning red
Oh, yes, they'll see...they can't mess with me
If McCain is chosen, I'm gonna stay home

A moderate will not work...do they think I'm a jerk
Over and over I've made it quite clear
One thing's for sure...with principles pure...oh, yeah
If McCain is chosen, I'm gonna stay home

I know some disagree...'cause evil is Hillary
But if I don't get my way, I don't care who wins
Oh, yes, they'll see...they can't be messing with me...oh, yeah
If McCain is chosen, I'm gonna stay home

She would wreck the USA...I don't care what you say
I'm narcissistic, friends, it's about me
One thing's for sure...with principles pure
If McCain is chosen, I'm gonna stay home

She'll shut down talk radio...Jim Robinson's got to go
And she will make us all bow down low to the queen
Oh, yes, they'll see...they can't be messing with me...oh, yeah
If McCain is chosen, I'm gonna stay home

A moderate will not work...do they think I'm a jerk
Over and over I've made it quite clear
One thing's for sure...(fade out)

"You may as well talk to the wind. I refuse to be shamed for my principles. If the Rhinos are no better than the cRATS, there's no reason to vote for either."

Thanks for the inspiration for this song.

What if it is McCain v. Hillary?
------
A sick choice, but there would be NO choice. No way I would put a radical, power-mad Marxist in the White House. Even if it meant McCain. Just look at what the leftist-activist justices on the SC have already done to our country, our Constitution and our freedom of ownership -- and will continue to do it as long as they are a majority...if the socialists get the upper edge on the judiciary, it is all over but raising the hammer-and-sickle over the White House. No matter what, it would have to be McCain -- it is way beyond just being a no-brainer.

I've said this before here, if it's McCain vs. Hillary, I'd vote for McCain in a heartbeat. There is too much at stake to sit at home and my hands and either (a.) hope that Hillary screws things up so badly that she'll get tossed out after a term ... there might not be anything but rubble left to salvage after one Hillary term ... or (b.) the Rapture happens before she's sworn in.

Besides, McCain was a 75 in 2003 and a 72 in 2004 in the American Conservative Union ratings, plus for the last four years he's gotten zeroes from Planned Parenthood and NARAL. He got 100 percent from the Eagle Forum and 83 percent from the Christian Coalition in 2004, and 100 percent from the Family Research Council in 2003. I'm using those figures because they're post 2000. It ain't 100 percent down the line, but it's a darn sight better than Hillary would be.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's been a horse's rear end and a thorn in Bush's side ... IMHO, the differences between him and Bush and, for that matter, him and Limbaugh are more personal than philosophical and political ... and too willing to compromise, and I'd really rather have someone else in 2008, but a choice between him and Hillary is no choice.

Many Americans have no idea how dangerous she is.

Paul Begala once said, "Stroke of the pen. Law of the land. Kinda cool." She would make whatever law she wishes by executive order. Who would stop her? Who would impeach her?

I think McCain has NO chance of winning the GOP nomination. He's simply pissed off too many Republicans who see him for what he is, a grandstanding, pompous, me-first, team-last, jerk. That being said, if by some miracle it was McCain vs. Hillary, I would of course vote for McCain.

I worry that after McCain gets clobbered in the GOP primaries that he either runs as an independent, or makes some deal with the devil and runs on Hillary's ticket.

I also worry that if Guiliani wins the nomination, that the same anti-McCain crowd will sit on the sidelines and give us President Hillary. I think Guiliani is a vastly superior option to McCain.

In a McStain vs. Hillary campaign, a 3rd party vote, or an abstention, or a vote FOR Hillary is merely BRING IT ON.

Two terms of "conservative" Bush, and we have ZERO more SCOTUS conservatives, and his agenda disappearing. At least with Hillary, we'd have a Republican Congress reigning in her spending, as compared to Bush's unchecked spree.

Those who vote for McCain deserve him.

You won't have my help.

Slogan: "McCain, the 'David Souter' of Republicans!"

What if it is McCain v. Hillary?

McCain is much more likely to run with Hillary than against her.

In order to win the 2008 presidential election, John McCain must be accommodated by our party. He cannot be left out there ostracized by true republicans, making themselves feel good because they understand that he's not worthy. If the party splits into conservative and moderate.....Hillary wins.!!!!! That's what her husband did. We don't need another third party candidate to siphon off votes we should be getting. RHINOS at least call themselves republican and many times vote that way.
What does he really want? How can he be controlled? What could motivate him to keep the party welfare above his own ambitions? Who in the party does he really respect and more importantly who respects him? What about Colin Powell, how can he be utilized? There is necessity to bring these people into the policy making sphere, because they can be real assets if used properly. Both of these men are patriots, and excellent military men. They both understand the chain of command, and have a wealth of useful experience. They have paid their dues....more than most. They have a right to our respect, even though they aren't clear enough on many important issues. they also both understand the seriousness of this war, and would not sell their country out to a liberal communist like Hillary unless they were driven out of the party and left on the sidelines. Remember, the MSM will try to force a third party McCain candidacy to get Hillary elected.

I really believe that we pubbies need to be discussing our choices NOW! I would like to suggest freshman Sen. John Cornyn, if he's not on the S.C. by then. But I have not heard of any aspirations from him. He is ACU 100%.

That's a good point, putting McCain in the VP slot might make a lot of sense. Keep him from going 3rd party, where I still think he pulls more GOP votes than Democratic votes.

The guy's such an egomaniac, I doubt he'd take it, but I'd rather see him on the GOP ticket than Hillary's ticket.

Read once that Lyndon Johnson said about mavericks within his party, "I'd rather have them inside the tent pissing out, than outside the tent pissing in......."

Sorry, Doug - - no sale.
Pray that it never comes to it, but if it's Hillary vs. McCain, the country is going to take a huge hit either way. I will never vote for McCain. Period.

LH

I agree 100% the GOP should be preparing now. I think, Joe "Look at Me!" Biden notwithstanding, its pretty obvious that Hillary will walk to the Democratic nomination. She's going to have a huge war chest, and juggernaut of a campaigning apparatus built up by 2008. If the GOP doesn't field a strong candidate, well, I hate to think about it.

Gotta disagree on Cornyn. He might be a really good conservative, but I don't think he has the name recognition to beat Hillary.

Remember, the MSM will try to force a third party McCain candidacy to get Hillary elected.

That scheme is already well underway. Do not doubt for one second that Hillary's allies in the dying socialist "mainstream" liberal newsrooms are working ovetime on this. But their first step is to try to make McCain look like a viable Republican candidate.

McCain vs. Hillary, I probably hold my nose and vote for McCain ... if he stands firm on his pro-life position.

Guiliani? No way.

Then why nominate McCain? You put the onus on the voters instead of the nominating party. Give us somebody worth voting for.
