Terry, a nationally known abortion opponent and spokesman for Terri Schiavo's parents this year, is scheduled to announce today he will run to unseat King next year. He had previously announced he was considering a run.
Terry says the district has no room for moderation and that he can better represent Republican principles.
"I want a smaller government, lower taxes and more respect of life and marriage," he said Tuesday.
King helped lead a group of nine Republican senators who blocked a bill aimed at saving Schiavo, sealing the brain-damaged woman's fate. She died March 31, and autopsy results released last week showed she indeed had severe and irreversible brain damage.
He is the only one of the nine up for re-election next year.

Great choice.
RINO vs. huckster.
Sad, isn't it?
Don't we have any better choices down there?
Well I realize that some view Randall as an opportunist but I have to give him credit for having the guts to go against King.
Looks like Jim King just wanted Terri's food for himself.
Thing is there are others who could run against King but I think they are intimidated by King's campaign contributions list, which I might add is not without controversy.
Or worse.
When Randall was quoted as stating: "I want a smaller government, lower taxes and more respect of life and marriage," my only thought was
What a joke! I wonder if Randall will ask his first wife to campaign with him. As far as I know, this man has shown no respect for marriage.
He's not missing out is he?
That is not my calling in life.
Seems like you may not be too familiar with King and the area to have said that.
I know for a fact the reason some won't run against King is his track record on campaign contributions. I personally think that's a poor excuse not to try to get a RINO our of office.
And Jim King has?
Thanks for posting the jpeg. Since Randall Terry is running against Jim King, we can post Randall Terry articles in the Campaign category here.
ROTFLMAO!!! This guy has an extremely low rating in the "family values" category.
"I want you to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good..." -- Randall Terry
Jim King received donations that are in double digit millions in 2004 from trial lawyers that aren't even Floridians. When is that going to be investigated? Jim King is a lobbyist's best friend.
A person went to meet with Jim King and King scared this person to the point where they became physically ill. Jim King told them "If we were starving you for example, (in their face), I'd take a swab and moisten the inside of your mouth for you." He took his fat finger and waved it at this person's mouth.
True story with witnesses. FV
bttt
Shouldn't we hate abortion? Shouldn't we hate the acceptance of starving/dehydrating the disabled and elderly?
I wonder if the other 8 are aware of what King has attributed to them.
Randall Terry is a champion for life, King a champion for death.
I will gladly support Terry....somebody be sure to post Terry's campaign website so we can send him $$.
Sure, here is his website:
Elmergantry.com
The other 8 voted with him. They aren't up for re-election next year but as long as we have the jpeg, we won't forget who they are.
This comment appears to be in the context of declaring America to be a Christian-only nation, all other religions excluded, in direct opposition to the intent of the Founding Fathers. It's not hatred for abortions, it's hatred of non-Christians.
Sounds very fundie Muslim of him. But then, fundamentalism in any religion produces about the same point of view.
Terry will get my support , even though I am not in Florida!! He may not be the best, but he is sure BETTER than what is there now!!
Well I personally don't know anyone who has never regretted some of the things they've said.

"What happened was, I was too intense," he says. "When I speak publicly, and I get too intense ... I'll step back. Do something for comic relief.
"'Let the hate wash over you. ... Hate is good.' If you were there, you could hear people laughing. It's obviously a joke.
"What I was saying, though, was, 'If you don't hate child pornography and child molestation, something is wrong with you.'
"It was taken completely out of context. I hate retail politicking. I wear well in person. If you take my quotes out of context ... I look like a lunatic."
Every now and then, Terry concedes, he managed to load reporters' cannons for them.
"When you're in your 20s, you say stuff you wouldn't say in your 40s," he says. "You say stuff for shock value. You say stuff that you're trying to outdo what your buddy just said.
"We had jokes among us who could say the most wild things. One of my friends said, 'You make promises we have to cash with our
There is no difference between Randall Terry and Michael Schiavo except one claims to be pro life while the other claims to be pro carry out your wishes. Otherwise, they are two peas in a pod. You need a shower after meeting both of them.
Well, this'll have the ghouls in a tizzy.
How sad that you think smearing someone is the best way to beat them.
It is beneath most of us to engage in the sort of filthy tactics that have been honed to perfection by radicals we stand against.
Please take your "tactics" to another site where they are more appreciated by people who share your attitude(DU perhaps).
I'd rather see a dem who will vote as the constituents want on different issues than a RINO who will ignore his constituents. I'd much rather have Randall than Jim King any day and so would a lot of people in this district. This is a conservative district and Jim King ticked off a lot of his base with his stand on Terri and some other issues.
There is absolutely no comparison between Randall and Schiavo...
Jim King is the one who said starving Terri was the right thing for her and others like her! If anyone is like MS it is Jim King!
You know it!
No one needs try to smear them, they did that all on their own.
Jim King thinks he is invincible. If you call his office about something and they know that his position will offend conservatives they will lie but he flaps his mouth all over Florida and his campaign contributions show who/what he is beholden to.
thanks for bumping this thread.
Tallahassee, Fl (Jim King's Office w/witnesses).
"I think Jim King's behavior in the Terri Schiavo matter was deplorable. It was unforgivable in the minds of many Republicans," Terry said. "If he had not done what he did, Terri Schiavo would probably be alive."
Term limits restrict King to one more four-year term.

Got to give Randall credit. He's not all talk. How many of us have talked, talked, talked on and on but have never put our time, effort, and money where our mouth is? Running for office can be a grueling and embarassing ordeal. More power to him if he's able to unseat this maggot.
Ah, damage control. Terry looks even more the lunatic if you take his whole life in context. Yes, we agree on some basic ideals such as abortion is bad, but then most Christians agree with fundamentalist Muslims on some basic ideals too. Terry agrees with Muslim ideals even more than the average Christian. Does that mean the fundie Muslims are okay?
True. Randall Terry is following his convictions (something his detractors say he doesn't possess). In a republic, he's doing what ought to be done when one disagrees with the direction of government policy. I give him credit for that.
[snicker] Yeah, he hasn't missed too many meals.
It's disturbing, but enlightening, how many "culture of death conservatives" there are on FreeRepublic. Quite a wake-up call. The cracks that appeared in the conservative community over Terri's death (or, rather, court-sanctioned murder) haven't healed over.
Disqualifying for any American political figure, if true.
Documentation, please?
Even Dick Durbin!
Question: Is Fat Jim an opportunist former Democrat who jumped the fence when the political demographics started to change in Floriida?
[Randall Terry, founder of Operation Rescue, at the Aug 8, 1995 U.S. Taxpayers Alliance Banquet in Washington DC, talking about doctors who perform abortions and volunteer escorts]
"Let a wave of intolerance wash over you. I want you to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good.... If a Christian voted for Clinton, he sinned against God. It's that simple.... Our goal is a Christian Nation... we have a biblical duty, we are called by God to conquer this country. We don't want equal time. We don't want Pluralism. We want theocracy. Theocracy means God rules. I've got a hot flash. God rules."
[Randall Terry, Head of Operation Rescue, from The News Sentinel, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Aug 15, 1993]
"Our goal is a Christian Nation... we have a biblical duty, we are called by God to conquer this country. We don't want equal time. We don't want Pluralism. We want theocracy. [my emphasis]" Randall Terry, The News Sentinel, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Aug 15, 1993
Let's see, someone who wants to overturn our fundamental form of government should be in office? Uh, no. Looking at Muslim countries and Christian theocracies of the past, we know how well theocracies protect the rights of minority religions, or even those of the same religion who have different interpretations of the holy book.
Terry is an embarrassment. He'll guarantee a King victory. He is a poster boy for radical feminists and probably one of their best fund raising tools.
Hahaha....Randall Terry, what a kidder.
