The FBI's jurisdiction over hate crimes is based on federal civil rights laws, including the Church Arson Prevention Act of 1996 that prohibits "intentional defacement, damage or destruction of any religious real property ... "

A conveniently deceptive ellipsis after the term "real property", which the law actually goes on to define as "any church, synagogue, mosque, religious cemetery, or other religious real property, including fixtures or religious objects contained within a place of religious worship."

In other words, no crime was committed, and certainly not a federal crime.

Unless the FBI now investigates the crime of littering in Virginia.

Maybe they have heard of that quaint American document called the Constitution?

The Bill of Rights?

The FIRST Amendment?

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Another self-inflicted "hate crime", is my guess.
