Four Keller High School varsity cheerleaders put human feces on a pizza during a cheerleading camp, then returned it to the Fossil Ridge High School squad, claiming that Fossil Ridge had done the disgusting deed, district officials confirmed this week.
Federal laws bar officials from discussing the girls' discipline, but such an incident would be considered "serious misconduct," district spokesman Jason Meyer said. Punishment could include sending the girls to the district's disciplinary alternative high school. They could also be removed from the cheerleading team, he said.
The Fossil Ridge squad sent the pizza June 2, the last night of a four-day camp at the University of Texas at Arlington. Girls from the rival Keller district schools stayed in a campus dorm.
Less than 45 minutes later, some Keller cheerleaders knocked on the door of Fossil Ridge varsity cheerleading sponsor Audrey Wilson, according to a member of the Fossil Ridge squad. She asked not to be identified because of fear of retribution. Wilson declined to comment Wednesday.
Wilson and the two Fossil Ridge cheerleading captains were in the room, the cheerleader said.
The Keller girls "were laughing and said we need to speak to your sponsor, like now," she said.
The Keller girls accused the Fossil Ridge squad of sending them a pizza with feces on it and showed the pizza to Wilson.
For the next several hours, several girls on the Fossil Ridge varsity squad and all of the girls on Keller's junior varsity and varsity squads were questioned, according to cheerleaders and parents.
Many did not got to bed until 2 a.m. or later June 3.
Once the facts were determined, four Keller High School cheerleaders were sent home, cheerleaders and parents said.
The next day, other Keller cheerleaders apologized and read a letter to the Fossil Ridge squad, the Fossil Ridge cheerleader said. Many of the Keller girls cried.
"I'm friends with a lot of the Keller girls. At camp, we were all getting along, and then they did that," she said. "I just think it's really mean and really disgusting."
But such behavior, once unthinkable, is increasing, said Jack Levin, director of the Brudnick Center on Violence and Conflict at Northestern University in Boston.
"This is not just an aberration. This is a trend that we're seeing nationally," he said. "Teen-age girls, they're kind of where boys were in the 1960s. They're no longer just pulling hair. ... They're more likely to do something anti-social, violent or even disgusting to gain attention and impress their friends, and that was simply not the case 20 years ago."
The pizza incident may have been part of a group phenomenon, common with teens, Levin said.
"Teen-agers are very much affected by peers," he said. "And there are many teen-agers -- boys and girls -- who will commit a hideous offense that they wouldn't dream of perpetrating alone."
Pranks involving feces are not new, and there have been recent cases in Northeast Tarrant County.
In 2002, several Richland High School varsity baseball players were removed from the team after police gave them tickets for disorderly conduct. The boys were accused of putting human feces on dollar bills, then laying the bills on the ground outside a North Richland Hills store and watching the reactions of people who picked up the bills.

"Sugar and spice and everything nice..." ;)
Those skanks should have their faces rubbed in that pizza.
This crosses the line between "prank" and mental illness.
Man, that's perky.
Bring it on
They need a good spanking. I was just kidding so don't get hostile.
I'm wondering how they decided who would retrieve the . . . um . . . offending substance and put it on the pizza.
I wonder if the contributor to this pizza would be embarrassed if her name was made public. Can you get DNA from human waste.
Feminist claim that women are so called " Morally Superior to men " ..... oppss... I forgot, anyways blame the men if the women are bad.
That's a tad extreme.
Change the gender on the story and make it a football camp. Does the story read the same, or would our reactions be different?
Oh No You Did' Ent!!
And women are supposed to "civilize" men.
I remember that story.
In 1980 or so, a group of Girl Scouts smeared feces all over a Forest Service campground restroom.
Girls have had the capacity to be jerks for a long time...
(2) I don't care whether it is women or men - only perverted individuals get their jollies from playing games with dung.
Oh, the humanity!
