I can't believe what I'm reading! I thought my childhood buddies and I were the only one that ever did that. Back in the late 50's at Luke AFB (near Phoenix), the truck would come by once a week. We'd chase it down the road and get dripping wet from the DDT spray. Never gave it much thought until they banned it. Figured I'd be dead by now.

LOL! My DDT memories were on a military base, too. At another base my Dad was at they gave us kids geiger counters, and we would go through piles of rocks, and pick out the ones that set off the machines, and put them in our little buckets.

Then, lest I forget-playing with mercury from thermometers, or sometimes somebody's dad had a jar of it in the garage-Yikes, I think that was my Dad and our garage. You'd stick your hand in it, and it would be all silver, and cold when you pulled it out.

I should be so dead by now!
