Media memories are short on Iraq
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ^ | June 12, 2005 | Jack Kelly

Posted on 06/12/2005 9:48:51 AM PDT by baystaterebel

Without a hint of irony, Edith Lederer of The Associated Press reported June 3 that "U.N. satellite imagery experts have determined that material that could be used to make biological or chemical weapons and banned long-range missiles has been removed from 109 sites in Iraq."

We've been told repeatedly by those on the Left -- which includes most journalists -- that Bush Lied! when he gave the danger posed by Saddam's WMD programs as one of the reasons for going to war with Iraq. Did the United Nations lie, too? Is it lying now? When did Karl Rove go to work for Kofi Annan?

Two themes have dominated media coverage of the war in Iraq: that the casus belli was illegitimate (which is why we hear so much about WMD that hasn't been found and so little about mass graves that have been found), and that the cause is hopeless.

Journalists constantly compare the war in Iraq to the Vietnam War. This may be because Vietnam is the only war with which they are familiar, the study of military history not being foremost on the agenda of most scribes. More likely it's because it suits their ideological purposes to compare Iraq to the only war America has ever lost.

Jack Kelly gets it.

The terrorist in Iraq have went from attacking our soldiers to attacking their own people yet the media still thinks and prays we are doomed.

They wouldnt know victory if it slapped them in the face and even then they wouldnt admit it.

I loathe the leftists. Funny thing is the right in England is doing the same thing to Blair as the left is doing to Bush here.

Eerily like Alice in Wonderland. Well, it's one more Clinton legacy. Truth and reality depend on what you say it is, and you can have a lapse of memory anytime you please. Hillary, in particular, is good at the 'I don't remember' ploy. The MSM nod in unison like one of those toy dogs on car dashboards.

Also, the media now pretends that there was no relationship between Osama and Saddam.

Yet, in the 90's, they wrote dozens of articles about the world's alarm at the growing relationship between the dictator and the terrorist.

There was no mention of U.N. satellites. The article cited "U.N. satellite imagery experts". The imagery almost certainly came from our satellites.

From the beginning of the "War on Terror", we have heard frequently from the liberal Leftist media journalists, other various deviants who populate past and present Commie-Marxist organizations, and numerous liberal Leftist asswipe politicians, that it is just yet another Vietnam.

Since I am a draftee veteran (no military apologist here, but I’m proud that I served my country) of the Vietnam era, I do indeed have a very skeptical opinion of their various ludicrous, over-the-top claims, hyperboles and comparisons. I am always amazed that the frame of reference of many of those making these comparisons is what they absorbed from some anarchist, dope-smoking, elitist, Leftist professors preaching their anti-war, anti-military, anti-American marxist religion in journalism school.

I now believe however, that what is currently being purposefully promoted by the virulently anti-American, liberal Leftist media has as its genesis the mold developed and employed by these Commie-Marxist cockroaches during the Vietnam War era. A purposefully treasonous one it is.

Since the media has been unable to “defeat” the military success in the “War on Terror” they now are required to incessantly whine at a higher frequency about increasingly ridiculous issues too numerous to itemize here. As your article delineates, the same principle you cite regarding the WWII Japanese kamikazes and the Iraqi insurgents also applies to the present day media.

The media’s disdainful, disrespectful, hate-filled treatment of the military is what, in fact, is precisely the same today as in the Vietnam era. The endless negative stories from Iraq, the incessant whining about insignificant prison abuse in our “gulags”, the gleeful reporting concerning military recruiting shortfalls, the purposeful promotion that the draft is just yet again around the corner, etc., etc., etc., ….. are these people really just Americans reporting the news?

The angry Left has now found it necessary to also use another disturbing tactic from their 60’s playbook ….. demonize veterans at any cost. All military personnel are either baby killers, or evil, white Republican hayseeds, or both as reported in this article http://www.eternalvigilancesociety.org/peace-rally.htm.

Apparently these same liberal Leftist, Commie-Marxist demagogues whose ancestors' bacon was saved by the American military 60 years ago now arrogantly demonize the American military for attempting to perform the same praiseworthy endeavor for the people of Afghanistan and Iraq.

I hope the more shrill the angry, liberal Leftist media becomes the more it will hasten their demise.
