The three "persons of interest" have been arrested overnight says Natalee's family spokesperson per Fox News...
Released because one of the three is the son of a judge?????????
Shows the Aruba authorities are serious about this.
These three are the ones who said they dropped her off at her hotel on the night she went missing. One is the son of a local judge.
One of the five tried to have sex with her on the beach after she left with at least two of them earlier to see a light house. They said she was drunk. This is only what the attorney for the first two arrested is saying. It hasn't been confirmed by anyone else.
Can't imagine the agony her family is going through.
The hell of not knowing...
I think the other two are talking and gave them enough information to arrest the other three. I don't know if it was because one was the judge's son. All I know is what I am hearing on Fox News.
They better be serious about it. The tourism industry is the number one income of the island.
the website just says one of them is the son of a prominent official in the judicial system -- doesn't say whether the father is a judge, or whether the son was released.
When your only resource is tourism you got to do what you got to do.
And I would venture that a good chunk of that tourism comes from the U.S. -- so it's in the island's best interests economically to solve this crime and quickly.
At first both men had the same attorney and that was definitely not helping.
Now that they each have their own attorney the case will be solved because one will rat out the other rats.
Her aunt is a good friend of mine. I don't know Natalee or her mother and father. I talked to her aunt yesterday and you are correct. They are devastated. They know the more time that passes means bad news.
The family cancelled all of their news' conferences for the time being. They may know more than is being reported.
You are correct. In the winter most tourists are from the US. In the summer its gets a lot of South Americans. And unlike most Caribbean Islands they actually welcome us and treat us very well. This is truly a tragedy for all concerned.
Fox News Johnathon Serry said that one was the son of a local judge.
I was suspicious about the original three guys who had 'supposedly' dropped her off at her hotel when I read a report that she wasn't seen on the hotel security surveillance tape. Didn't take that as being conclusive--not knowing if all the possible entries into the hotel had cameras...
I've been there a couple of times. Generally considered safe...something like that tarnishes that safe image and keeps the tourists away.
500,000 may be about right.
Aruba arrests more suspects in missing teen case
The Associated Press
June 9, 2005, 7:26 AM EDT
Aruban police arrested three more suspects in the case of the missing American honors student Thursday, the attorney general said.
Attorney General Caren Janssen said police arrested three men that police had previously questioned and released in the disappearance of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway.
Authorities have described the three as students -- two Surinamese and a native of the Netherlands -- who told police they dropped off Holloway at her hotel around 2 a.m. on May 30.
Hotel employees, however, say that security cameras did not record her return.
