A majority of small and midsize business owners and managers surveyed in a Crain’s poll support a state constitutional amendment banning racial, gender and ethnic preferences in state government and universities.

The findings mirror another poll by John Bailey & Associates, which was commissioned by the Detroit Regional Chamber. Crain’s poll, conducted by EPIC-MRA, had a larger sample size. (See box, Page 88.)

Ward Connerly — a former University of California regent and a nationally known opponent of racial preferences — is backing the Michigan initiative. A group called the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative circulated petitions in the state. Jennifer Gratz, who sued the University of Michigan over its undergraduate admission policy, is executive director.

Most Small and Medium-Sized Businesses Do Not See How Affirmative Action or Diversity Helps Their Business

Diversity programs are racist plain and simple. Everyone knows this and history will judge those that support affirmative action and forced diversity as racists.

I don't know about everyone else, but the of my business is and always will be to make a profit - not to be "diverse", "inclusive", "tolerant", or "multicultural".

Bravo! There's no scullduggery in your conduct of business mission statement. Oh -- those words "diverse, inclusive, tolerant, multicultural? have very specific meaning to racialists --- $$$; but its not clean income. It uses "racism" as a marketing tool. "See this here... who'll give me $5 bucks, look how nice it is, look how healthy it is, $5 bucks.. who'll give me $6."

Mackinac (pronounced mack-in-aw) Island is one of Michigan's most popular tourist destinations, with a Revolutionary War-era military fort, lots of open ground for bicycling and going on carriage rides (no cars are allowed on the island), several impressive mansions, and a main street chock full of stores specializing in homemade fudge. It is unheard of to visit Mackinac Island and not eat a half pound of fudge (tourists are called "fudgies" by the locals) and I was just making a bad joke when I mentioned them fudging the poll numbers (hence the [groan] at the end).

Sorry for the confusion.

Not at all! MackinAW (excuse my earlier for my typo) sounds lovely. Fudge. I only discovered fudge 3 years ago. Oh my, it was easier when I hadn't discovered it.

Thank you for this knowledge about Macinaw Island!

CA voters did pass Prop 209 in 1996. It was enacted and amended into the California Constitution. The MCRI is like Prop 209.

I was thinking of Cal's Proposition 54, the Racial Privacy initiative.
I forgot about Prop 209. Thanks.

The Usual Suspects, plus Kaiser "HealthCare" city, state funded "health" clinics, Lawyers, Professors, Law Schools -- funded massively against Prop 54. It lost.
