There's a line in their code about how women's hair shouldn't be so short as to appear masculine. That's a little far, if you ask me.
I agree. Being a South Carolina school, of all places, you'd think the patriotic/community spirited thing to do would've been to ban clothing made in China or some other country that's hurt SC textiles.
IT is really quite simple, God is in control of everything, whatever happens is allowed by God, even the bad things, there is a lot you can learn from trials.
Post 230, that is true -- a lot of restaurants, companies, etc. ban denim (casual wear). I can understand this.
My objection -- connecting denim and casual wear with "being bad" or "wicked." That is for the birds.
Are you calling me a liar ..?? If you are .. you made a very serious mistake!
You're retahded.
Well .. it had to be before 1999. That's about all I can tell you.
Here's an old cartoon from MAD Magazine (back when it was still funnny, and I had a 28" waistline). Like I say, "no denim" is just preparing these students for the real world. Pay particular attention to the second panel.
Students can't highlight their hair?
Southern female enrollment will plummet.
And .. you're an arrogant ass! I saw the program - so you can believe whatever you want .. but you have no justification to be talking to me like that. You're rude and condescending .. because you just can't handle the truth. There really are people who belong to and support the church of Satan.
Unfortunately there is such an ignorance of the Word of God, and most of the verses bandied about are so out of context they torture the meaning. and as you have very aptly demonstrated, people who believe in the accuracy of the Bible are to be mocked, and made sport of, we as Christians throughout history are very aware of this, we have paid with our blood, and even in America, we continue to see the incremental criminalization of Traditional Chrisian beliefs, it wont be long when we will no longer be tolerated......
You're free to believe whatever you want.
I know what I saw.
Sure this is true, but you IDENTIFY with what you wear, Paris Hilton is seen as cheap, promiscous, vacuous, shallow, mostly because of her dress.
No. I'm not calling you a liar. I'm suggesting that you may have actually heard this second hand and confused it with another event.
But in answer to your question, I don't regard rude and obnoxious behaviour, or insults as Christian behaviour. My understanding of Christian behaviour is to at least be respectful. No-one says that we all have to agree, but we can disagree civilly. Insults don't qualify.
Furthermore, my comment was no more snide than yours is. I directed my comment to the poster directly in the hope that the conversation would not degenerate into a slanging match. I felt his/ her comment to be ridiculous in the context of the discussion, which is why I made the comment.
Perhaps you should take that up with the fellow freeper that chose to insult another fellow freeper before I was "snide" to the fellow freeper who is also your fellow freeper. Since we are all fellow freepers, perhaps we could communicate on a slightly more elevated level than I see over at DU.
I hope that answered your question.
Very funny. I used to read my father's MAD magazine when I was a kid.
I disagree with you about preparing kids for the real world. The real world has lots of nooks and corners.
Years ago I did volunteer work for Mother Teresa's order and plenty of volunters wore denim and t-shirts. Associating casual wear with "wickedness" and being slovenly might work for a corporate office, but there are lots of places in the world where casual wear is appropriate.
Discretion and common sense are the words that come to mind.
Calling Bob Jones legalistic is an understatement.
I support a strong conservative Christian point of view, but they really lose it.
Heck, not too long ago you couldn't even date or dance.....maybe that is still the case, who knows.
Have you ever been mistaken about something you thought you remembered? I have!
you got that right!!!!!
YOu mean Souvrn' gals actually have natural color under there?
