They don't "count heads" when children get on or off a bus anymore? Drivers don't do end-of-run checks anymore?
That poor, poor child, and now a family shattered because of some incompetent boob. I remain convinced that day care centers offer nothing of value in the live of a child or his/her family.
And here in RI, day care workers are trying to get Unionized!
My wife and I have 2 year old twins. My wife quit her job and we don't do daycare. Trust me, it sucks on an income level. We're not rich. But the girls are better off this way, and that's what matters.
We share your opinion that day cares are vastly overated and usually a crutch for parents who don't want to raise their own kids.
If somebody did this to one of my babies... the world wouldn't be big enough to hide from me.
Of course they are! They see the gravy train the teachers and municipal employess are on, and they want some of it!
I worked in a Day Care Center while I was going to college. That, alone, convinced me I'd never go to work and leave my kids at a place like that. Even in the one where I worked, which was clean, and the kids were well treated, they were still like cattle, and with infrequent exceptions, you could not treat them as individuals; they were just part of a group.
The longest I ever left any of my kids at a small Church or home day care was for maybe 3 hours, once every couple of weeks, when I'd go shopping.
