To avoid war, George Bush has just decided to let the enemy win.

~fyi~

It seems unavoidable that the U.S.-Mexico border is going to be the big issue in the 2006 mid-term elections in the U.S.<.b>, whether or not it is a major issue for Mexican politicians vying for political office next year:

The Zetas, a group of U.S.-trained commandos who turned from drug interdiction to drug cartel protection, have killed hundreds along the border since January, raising concerns even from the U.S. Justice Department, which seldom likes to acknowledge any problems with Mexico.

The illegal immigration wave continues unabated with no plans in sight from the Bush administration. Members of Congress from both parties are currently planning to introduce bills in the coming weeks to militarize the border.

U.S.-Mexico border is going to be the big issue in the 2006 mid-term elections in the U.S.<.b>

"A hostile government could put U.S. investments in Mexico in danger,

How about US investments in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California?

Got an idea. If US citizens can pay for toll roads, toll bridges / tunnels at $7 to $12 one way per trip, then why don't the US charge all folks $25 per person, per 18 wheeler, etc. per legal border crossing (either direction) to pay for border enforcement? OK, illegals wouldn't be paying when crossing, but if caught, that would be a direct charge to get them to pay that fee plus a list of other fines. If they don't have the money, then they can work it off at $5 / hour building The Southern Wall. Then we'll just catapult them over the border (with a chute) back into the country from which they originally crossed.

If they don't cooperate, then they can keep working for free until they decide to tell officials which country they came from. Then, they can finish working until they've bought and paid for their own one-way plane ticket back to their own country. Sure would help the airlines out, wouldn't it.

I think we are under siege on three fronts: Fifth column undermining from within and freezing response apparatus wherever possible. Organized Islamist terrorism recon-in-force from without. Asynchronous Mexican peasant invasion up the gut from the south.

Waiting for the whole system to collapse. Predicting major riots in LA this summer with mayor doing little to stop the looting. Governor may or may not call in National Guard. Plane may or may not be shot down out of LAX, depending on if there are shoulder-fired SAMs available, which in LA, I'm guessing there are. LAX shut.

Rioting limited to LA for now.

First off, there is a lie within this article that must be pointed out. Mexico President Fox IS NOT preparing for the 2006 presidential campaign. The Mexican Constitution limits presidents to a single 6 year term.

Aside from that, I believe a military confrontation may well be in the wings. Not just that, but I believe our once heralded doctrine of Manifest Destiny will be arising from beleaguered ashes to incorporate the present Mexican states under our Constitution. With over 500 years of tyranny in her history, there is no hope Mexico can make the necessary changes on her own.

Among my major reasons for believing this change must come is national security. Presently, the two most vulnerable cities for a terrorist strike against our nation are outside our jurisdiction. Those cities are Tijuana and Juarez, Mexico. And terrorist nuclear or biological attack on either, or both of these cities would have dire consequences for major US cities and major military installations. The major US cities affected would include San Diego, Phoenix, Tuscan, El Paso, San Antonio, Houston, and possibly a number of Gulf cities.

Keep in mind too that President Vincent Fox is a member of the PAN political party that adopted a party plank encouraging the northern Mexican states to join the USA.

Mexico has been a pain in our butts since at least 1826. When Texas joined the Union in 1846, and the border was set at the Rio Grande, it got even worse. The Mexicans only ackowldged the border as being the Nueces, and that's when the shooting trouble started.

The Mexican War of 1846 to 1848 was a lopsided American victory ON MOST ASPECTS. Zach Taylor's and Winfield Scott's armies thrashed the Ejercito Permanente everyplace from Contreras to Churubusco to Chapultepec. The Mexicans turned to guerilla action, and when the US Army (regulars and volunteers) weren't able to handle the guerillas (no special warfare skills in those days), Los Diablos Tejanos....the Texas Rangers....were brought in to pacify the rear areas, which they did extremely well.

Generally since 1848 relations with Mexico have been strained in one way or another. In the decades following the Mexican War, Mexico became a haven for cattle thieves, bank and train robbers and criminals of various other stripes....both Mexicans who struck into the US (such as Augustine Chacon), and Americans who stole from both sides (the Clantons, as an example). Although we have an extradition treaty with Mexico, the Mexican government fails to abide by it. We've had to deal with drug runners, coyotes who smuggle illegals, terrorists and other assorted scum coming up from Mexico. In 1916, one of their frequent governmental instabilities spilled over into Columbus, NM when Pancho Villa raided the US border. It's not improbable for something similar to happen again.

What Mexico fails to realize is this: The US was brutally attacked on 9/11/01, and the American people won't stand for it again, even if our elected officials are acting like a bunch of clueless baboons. If Mexico acts in an overtly hostile manner (unlikely), even the Wuss-in-Chief from Midland will have to act against his bueno amigo, Senor Presidente Fox. As it is, Mexico is acting in a hostile manner that is not as violently overt, and the Midland Mouse is just standing there and taking it as though nothing were happening.

The time is long since past to militarize the border, and begin rounding up and shipping out illegals. This is NOT anti-Hispanic, nor is it anti-immigrant. Hispanics who came here legally are just as offended as native born Americans at the way the border is being violated. The Hispanics I know who came legally view the illegals as pests and criminals who are ruining a country that the legals want to make a home in. But, I guess in the eyes of the left a legal isn't sufficiently Hispanic to count.....

If the federal government won't do something about the border, it does fall to the people to pick up the slack. The Texas legislators who are angry at the Minutemen are all traitors, and should be unelected next time around. When a cowpuncher has to strap on a pistol again so he can defend himself against dope smugglers and illegals just to check fence....that's when the border is in chaos, and needs to be secured.

This time around, when you vote, make sure the politicians put their money where their mouths are. If they fail to act, or act improperly, organize a recall and SEND THEM HOME! This country is far too precious to be left in the care of people who can't spot a threat when it's right under their noses!

I may have voted for George Bush twice, but I no longer support him. He has singlehandedly allowed the Trojan Horse to enter our country and is responsible for the crime, disease and bankrupcy of our nation and culture.

Their will be "no war" with Mexico but the George Bush presidency is over. He has lost the support of the majority of Americans by allowing the invasion from Mexico to continue.

He could have learned alot from IKE.

"An FBI wanted list for drug cartel bosses placed Ramon Eduardo Arellano-Felix at the top, describing him as extremely violent and probably with extensive narco-terror connection, setting him next to terrorist Osama bin Laden on the FBI 10 most wanted list. This by itself illuminates the appalling scope of the problem."

How old is this article? Because Ramon Arellano Felix has been dead since 2002. He died while in Mazatlán, during what was reported to be a shootout with the police
