PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: The President and First Lady are spending the weekend at their Crawford ranch. Undoubtedly Barney and Beezie are with them, but no new photos have turned up on Yahoo News Photos. (Sigh.) British Prime Minister Tony Blair will be visiting the President at the White House on Tuesday. The meeting is intended to be preparatory to the G8 Summit to be held in Scotland next month. They are expected to talk about aid to Africa, as well as the status of things in Afghanistan and Iraq.

THE WEEK AHEAD: From White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan's press gaggle yesterday.

Monday, the President will be going to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, to make remarks at the opening of the general assembly for the Organization of American States. Then when he gets back to the White House, he'll make remarks on the South Lawn for Black Music Month. There will be a White House Black Music Month reception.

Tuesday, the President welcomes Prime Minister Blair back to the White House. Following their meeting, they will participate in a joint -- it's an afternoon meeting, they'll participate in a joint press availability. That's scheduled for the East Room at this point. And then they will have dinner after the joint press availability.

Wednesday, the President meets with Prime Minister Erdogan at the White House in the Oval Office, and then he will be making remarks on strengthening Social Security later in the day.

Thursday, GWB travels to Colombus, Ohio, where he will make remarks on the Patriot Act. Congress is considering legislation to reauthorize the Patriot Act right.

Friday, the President will go to McLean, Virginia, where he will tour the National Counterterrorism Center. And then he will meet with President Roh in the Oval Office later that day.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: From the Presidential Radio Address today.

America's economy is on the right track. Over the past two years, we've added more than 3.5 million new jobs. More Americans are working today than ever before. Home ownership is at an all time high. Small businesses are flourishing. Factory output is growing. And families are taking home more of what they earn.

These are hopeful signs for our economy, and we must work hard to sustain that prosperity. When members of Congress return next week, they need to take action on four key priorities for the American people. [The President then discussed each of the four points. Walking to an event in the Rose Garden for the recent press conference.

Speaking of the Rose Garden, there is an updated "kids" page at the WH website. A Barney and Beezie video is featured. For those of you who have young kids or grandkids, visiting this page together is a great way to spend quality time with them.

The First Lady is continuing to travel the country in support of her "Helping America's Youth" initiative. Here she shakes hands with Miguel Arcos, an outreach worker for Cease Fire Chicago, an anti-violence organization, as Freddy Martinez, a 17-year-old youth client of the program, looks on Thursday, June 2, 2005, in Chicago.

President and Mrs. Bush had dinner at the home of former Secretary of State Colin Powell and his wife, Alma. Powell joined on of the several groups bidding to purchase the Washington Nationals baseball team. (George Soros joined a competing group.) I think we can guess what at least some of the dinner table conversation was about. In this photo, Powell meets the President at the doorstep of the home in McLean, Virginia, May 31, 2005.

President Bush takes off his coat as the arrives at former Secretary of State Colin Powell's house. Also pictured are Powell's wife Alma and the First Lady.

The obligatory wave to reporters. (Now go away and leave us in peace.)

This was taken moments after the President's arrival. Judging by the focal length of the photos, the media was being kept well away from Powell's front door.

The President conducts a roundtable meeting with members of the Radio-Television News Directors Association, Wednesday, June 1, 2005, in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. (Most of those people, if not all, are Dimocrats. The photo of the day says it all about their true relationship with GWB.)

GWB was joined by Dan Bartlett, Counselor to the President, at the roundtable. Although everyone is smiling in this pic, notice the somewhat skeptical look on our Dubya's face.
