The woman left her daughter in the hot car Friday afternoon outside the Wolfchase Galleria in East Memphis.
The child suffers from cerebral palsy, so she could not get out of the car on her own. She may have been left for more than an hour and a half. Someone leaving the mall noticed the child in the back seat.
The child was rushed to LeBonheur Children's Hospital. She was not seriously hurt.
Police waited for the child's mother to come out of the mall. She was arrested and faces a misdemeanor charge of child abuse and neglect.

Someone needs to stuff these stupid parents in a car while it's 100 degrees and see how much they enjoy it.

Every summer, idiots leave children, cats, dogs in hot cars with the windows up. How stupid do you have to be to do this?
The children in cars are usually reported and dealt with. How many dogs die every year from being left in cars?

We live in the age of throw-away children. What does it matter that the child suffers, as long as the parent(s)' good times are not interrupted.

You wonder if she was trying to off her daughter and get away with it(light or no sentence.

If she left a dog in the car this would lead every newscast for a week.

How hot was it? 80? 90? 100?

Looks like it was 95 in Memphis yesterday... so a lot hotter in that car if it was out in the sun.

Unbelievable.
Unfortunately it's a story that hits very close to home with me. My wife has cerebral palsy. She uses crutches to be able to get around. When she was about ten her family went to a baseball game at the Astrodome. Her mom and dad took her sisters in with them and left my (future) wife in the car...summertime...Houston heat. The next summer they went to Calsbad caverns...same story ...left her in the car while the rest of family went to see the wonders of carlsbad caverns. I've spent the last 28 years married to this fine lady and she is the light of my life. One of the first trips we ever made together was to the Astrodome...she had never seen the inside of it until then. Thanks for posting this story EEExtremist.

That's a horrible story about your wife! Does she even speak to her family anymore?

Whats even more unbelievable is the fact its only a misdemeanor charge for leaving a child in the hot car.

Nothing to see here, move along. It's just a failed late-term abortion. The mother's health must have been at risk....

I live in Memphis and it was 85. The child should not have been left in the car under any cirstumstances.
If the mother had just had her radio on, she would have discovered that people in Memphis go to jail for even accidentally leaving a child in the car on a hot day.
On this very day, a judge said that even though a youth minister accidentally left his baby in the can last year and she died, he would have to face trial.

God bless you! My sister is paralyzed and we never went anywhere she could not get to. It was sometimes hard but my parents made sure she could be carried or wheeled to see what the rest of us were getting to see (1950s). Your wife sounds like a wonderfully forgiving person.
