A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

If I hug my cat, she will feel offended and try to remove my entrails for the perceived sleight.
*chuckle*

Or, it could just be that she's 24 pounds and doesn't like being squeezed.

Thanks for the warm welcome back! :)

Not really avoiding anything, just busy with life. I'm sure you all know what that's like! :)

I'm not sure how regular I will be, as I am now working part time and we are in the process of figuring out how we can move to Vermont. We've applied for a mortgage, but the process is going slow, and we are starting to doubt if we are going to get it.

If anyone knows of any decent apartments in the Burlington area that allow dogs, please FReep Mail me. Thanks!

I hope my camera can be repaired (Sony Mavica) I know there is new technology out there but some things do not improve.

1) It does not use a memory card but 3 1/2 disks so easy for uploading to computer and sharing photos with others

2) It has a very very good lens on it and comparing photos even with the newer cameras I have seen very few that come anywhere near the quality of mine.

Regarding value current conversion rate is 1.81=1.00 pound sterling so I paid approximately 1200.00 US dollars for it.

Tomorrow is the D-Day anniversary. Please remember all the young men who died on the French beaches in your prayers.

Imagine you are just trying to reach everyone so they'll post comments
if they can't be here on Monday --

"On June 6, 1944, a date known ever since as D-Day, a mighty armada crossed a narrow strip of sea from England to Normandy, France, and cracked the Nazi grip on western Europe."

=================================

Suspect The Mayor is planning something special for Military Monday,
and the Anniversary...

With D-Day happening on 6 June 1944,
I had just turned 10 years old on May 7th --

I remember it very well.

Thanks for the reminder, Temple Owl. I have added "D Day" to the June calendar at the top of this thread. :-)

I'm sure on Monday there will be many tributes to the Allied invasion of Normandy. (I am embarrassed to admit that I had forgotten to put it on the June calendar.)

A Friend To The End

Read:
Proverbs 18:14-24

There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. -Proverbs 18:24

Bible In One Year: Proverbs 15-18

cover Traditionally, medical schools have trained their students to help patients live, while offering little instruction in helping them face death. But that is changing with the addition of courses in end-of-life care. Physicians are now taught that when they have used all their medical expertise without achieving a cure, they should seize the opportunity to stand compassionately beside their dying patients and be a friend.

Death frightens many of us and makes us feel awkward in the presence of a terminally ill person. But our greatest opportunities to help someone in Jesus' name may come during a person's final days on earth.

The Bible speaks of a friendship that knows no limits. "A friend loves at all times," said the wise man (Proverbs 17:17). And "there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother" (18:24). Jesus said, "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends" (John 15:13).

Jesus is both our Great Physician and our Friend, and He promised that He would never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). He calls us to stand with our friends and family in His name as their earthly journey nears its end. That's what a true friend would do. -David McCasland

A friend is he who always knows
When the cold wind of trouble blows,
Who comes in dark and stormy night
With friendship's glowing lamp alight. -Mason

A true friend stays true to the end.

Always the right message and delivered when I need to be reminded....

Have a great day FReepers. You provide reflections of His wisdom and love, and they are indeed opportunites for me to grow in faith.
