Naw, this can't be right. AARP says no one wants private SS. Didn't this poll ask the 80 & 90 year olds who think that Bush is gonna take away their checks? Like he said the other day, people have been peddling the lie now for 5 years that he was going to take away old folks checks, and it has been five years an no one has had a check taken away. God bless my 87 year old mother, but she believes this also. She also thought Klinton was pushed to admit something he did not do. Did I happen to mention that I thought way back in 1965 that my mother had lost her mind, when I was a teenager, and she was telling me all the rules. It still appears to not have aged well either. :>)

Problem is most young people don't vote in large numbers. I do and I'm 28 but not many. Old folks seem to vote in larger numbers, so if they think SS reform is gonna hurt them they're going to vote against anyone who votes for it. The politicians know this to be true. If young people are more vocal and vote more often this would pass without question IMO.
