Anybody who is offended by this must have pretty thin skin.
Yes, I saw it live and couldn't believe it. Not just because it was such a blatant slam at the president, which I suppose you could argue is just free speech, but because it was such a stupid, piece of cr*p song. The guy who sang it had apparently heard a lot of old Bob Dylan albums without managing to absorb one iota of talent for song craft or lyric writing. It sounded like something written by a sullen, not-very-bright 15-year-old who's just finished his third guitar lesson and celebrated by listening to Air America for an hour. Absolutely pathetic. If this is what the left thinks is going to put Republicans on the run, then they are simultaneously sad and laughable.
"Out" Jay Leno? Why? Doesn't anyone watch his show anymore?
It was cut from the final airing. It never showed as far as I know.
Leno hasnt been funny for a while now. I stopped watching him a while back.

When the president talks to God Are the consonants all hard or soft? Is he resolute all down the line? Is every issue black or white? Does what God say ever change his mind When the president talks to God?
When the president talks to God Does he fake that drawl or merely nod? Agree which convicts should be killed? Where prisons should be built and filled? Which voter fraud must be concealed When the president talks to God?
When the president talks to God I wonder which one plays the better cop We should find some jobs. the ghetto's broke No, they're lazy, George, I say we don't Just give 'em more liquor stores and dirty coke That's what God recommends
When the president talks to God Do they drink near beer and go play golf While they pick which countries to invade Which Muslim souls still can be saved? I guess god just calls a spade a spade When the president talks to God
When the president talks to God Does he ever think that maybe he's not? That that voice is just inside his head When he kneels next to the presidential bed Does he ever smell his own bullshit When the president talks to God?
I doubt it
I doubt it

"Out" Jay Leno?
What is it about this lefty stooge that you think people don't know?
It's listed on the NBC Web site, so it must have aired in at least some time zones:

"OUT" Jay Leno?
He's a Chomsky-ite from wayback.
This was so disgusting I am appalled and sickened.
I will never be able to see Leno in the way I used to.
To think he would have this garbage on his show and then applaud it.
The guy can't put two notes together, so it's hard to tell, but I think he stole Johnny Cash's "When the Man Comes Around" tune.
Here's an old thread about this Oberst person.

But he IS in Sourthern Mexifornia.. He could lose his job if he was just a little too conservative..
I am a huge Bright Eyes fan, in fact a fan of Conor Oberst in general. I do not appreciate anyone saying that this man does not have talent, because you have obviously only heard this song. If you will take a look at this website
http://thestoryinthesoil.com/albums.html
you will see that Conor has worked on many albums, many record labels, and in many different bands. Before you go criticizing his music you should hear more than one song, for he is actually an amazing guitarist. And though his voice is not the best, it adds a feel of pure emotion to his music, almost as if he is about to begin crying during his songs. It adds a gritty, unedited feel that many bands can never obtain because they sound horrible live. With Conor, what you hear on CD is what you get. His lyrics are also very poetic and heartfelt. If you do not like his music you are entitled to that opinion, but please do not say he has no talent. I don't criticize your music, you shouldn't criticize mine. Conor Oberst had the guts to stand up on national television and sing this song. I applaud him for that. I vote republican myself, because I believe that John Kerry was not a good choice to run this country. But Bush must admit that he made a mistake in the Irag war. Too many lives have been lost, too much money spent. He is not a bad man, but he should be able to confess his failures, for everyone has them. Don't attackConor on a personal basis because he has stood up and defended his point of view. I admit that the song is profane in some parts, but sometimes it takes profanity to indicate anger or force a point across into someones mind. I'm sure you have all used it at one point or another as well.
The main point of this reply was to put a stop to anyone criticizing Conor like this just because of one songs. Hear some of his other stuff, then tell me he has no talent. And if you still hold by your opinion, the nI wonder what you consider talent to be exactly?
Thank you, and please do not be angry that I feel this way about President Bush. It is my personal opinon which I am entitled to. Many others share the same opinion, some of whome are war veterans.
Themes touched on in the song (for those who didn't listen to it): George Bush denies women their rights, presides over GOP vote fraud, introduces cocaine into black neighborhoods to keep the brothas down, and is trying his dardnest to convert the entire Muslim world to Christianity.
