Santa Rosa Man Named as "Deep Throat"
Posted: May 31, 2005 at 9:30 a.m.
SANTA ROSA (KRON) -- A Santa Rosa man is claiming to be the source called "Deep Throat" who provided information to the Washington Post about the Watergate Scandal more than 30 years ago.
"Vanity Fair" magazine reports W. Mark Felt told his children several years ago that he provided the information to Post reporters Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward. At the time, Felt was the second highest official at the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Woodward isn't commenting on the reports. The two investigative reporters have long said they would never reveal the identity of the source until the person in question had died.
Felt is now 91 years old and lives in Santa Rosa.
Reporter John O'Connor says Felt told him for years he felt shame for providing the information that eventually led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon. The journalist says now Felt "knows he's a hero."
In 1979, Felt wrote a book in which he categorically denied being "Deep Throat."
KRON 4 reporters are on the story and will have more on these developments as details become available.

Deep Throat is not Linda Lovelace - as first suspected!

Well, as a Santa Rosan for over 20 years I'm hardly surprised. The city is home to thousands of men who perform that particular trick....

Amen. I've lived in Sonoma county for almost all my life, and the fact that this guy lives here doesn't surprise me at all. How could he not? In Sebastapol (small town about 10 miles away) they were happy when Reagan died...heard this first hand from a lib dipwad I work with...sickening...

Sebastopol is Berkeley North. When you enter Sebastopol from Hwy 12 there's a sign which let's you know it's a nuclear free zone.
Brain free zone, too....

Who the "H" cares! Why bring up deep throat? Another chance to dirty the name of Richard Nixon. Nixon had more honor for the presidency and the American people then had clinton. When is the media going to dirty the name of Clinton? Repeat after me, when hell freezes over.

Strange - "FELT" and "DEEPTHROAT" are both listed as keywords in the other article.
I've been in the same boat, searched and found nothing, then posted and someone pointed me to the other thread. I suspect the searching isn't 100% accurate. Or something.

Always a bit puzzled why people bother to defend the ultimate RINO, Nixon.

It seems my search was on "Poster" instead of "By Title".
I apologize...

Made me think of one of the Washington DC villains in Atlas Shrugged.
I could never stand him.

Aren't there...um...laws against an FBI official providing such information to the media? Is the guy finally too senile to prosecute?

Haha, yeah I've seen that - every time I go to visit a friend who lives there, I always think "I wonder if the Russians would have paid attention to that..."
Idiots. I guess they really do think that the only Americans on the Islamofacists agenda are Republicans...

Didn't the guy ever think of the jokes that would arise out of that nick name? I would have chosen something different that could not be alluding to sexual acts.
