Latest immigration "reform" effort only adds to the problem
The Telegraph ^ | May 29, 2005 | Paul Sylvain

If it looks like a dog, smells like a dog and barks like a dog, it probably is a dog no matter how its owner tries to disguise it.

Or, as Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo,, recently observed "There is a little more lipstick on this pig than there was before, but it's most certainly the same old pig."

THe "pig" referred to by Tancredo is a bipartisan immigration reform bill introduced on May 12 by Republican Senator John McCain and Democratic Senator Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts. The bill, if passed, would clear the way to allow many of the estimated ten to twelve million illegal immigrants in the United States to get legal jobs and eventually win citizenship.

Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas is a co-sponsor of this scheme to give amnesty to illegal aliens. I wonder how many other potential Repbulican candidates for president in 2008 besides McCain and Browbback will support this amnesty.

Any Congressman, R or D, who votes for this needs to be made to pay dearly.

Kennedy has been doing real damage to sensible immigration policy in this country since 1965. The mere fact that his name is on this is a reason to examine it with a microscope before voting.

A full 80% of Americans have had a bellyfull of immigration and still both parties are sticking it up our butts.

Which means we no longer have a representative government.

Hmmm... seems like we've been here before.

Reminder to self... more ammo!

As many as are trolling for the illegal immigrant and/or Hispanic vote. And that vote is huge.

Actually there is going to be a more conservative Kyl/Cornyn bill which would not include amnesty, but tancredo will grandstand as usual, and backstab Kyl/Cornyn, like he did Tom Delay.

Comprehensive immigration reform is necessary. But clearly it cannot happen without an accompanying commitment to border security. Sen. Kyl deserves credit for putting a meaningful proposal on the table.

many of the estimated ten to twelve million illegal immigrants in the United States

I see this bogus figure constantly bandied about. According to the government itself there are more than 10,000 illegal aliens entering the country on a daily basis. That turns out to be more than 3.6 million per year. That means that in the last ten years alone the estimated number to have entered the country is more than 30 million. Yet they tell us there are only 10 million illegals in the country. More "government math". Who was it that said there are lies and then there are statistics?

It's a myth that Hispanics in this country (the legal citizens, that is) are pro-illegal. Some are, but most are not.

Politicians are pro-illegal because a fragmented, dissonant society is much easier for them to control.

Of course. A united people is hard to beat. Fragmented and divided they fall.

Well, this is a complex issue on many levels. However, on all levels it sucks.

First of all, not all Hispanics support illegal immigration. I saw a poll awhile back that said 51% don't support it. These are the ones that came here legally. For some unknown reason nobody acknowledges this slim majority.

Secondly, the borders need to be secured before anything like this is even talked about. The news of this bill is being spread like wildfire all over the Muslim world and Latin America. You'd better believe Vicente Fox has told his entire country about it, and they are going to come over in droves now. Like they weren't before.

My big issue with this is that these people are already straining so many facets of American life to the breaking point. Schools, hospitals, social services, and the legal system are suffering irrepairable damage due to our non-existant immigration policy.

Lastly, there is a very vocal minority in this country who want one of two things to happen.

The one-world ACLU/Soros types want the borders dissolved so that America's wealth can be spread amongst all the third world hellholes on Earth. This won't help the rest of the world, it will only drag America down to their level. Think about it; why are these assholes saying that the Constitutional Rights of the GITMO prisoners are being violated by not having attorneys? They aren't citizens of America, and by law aren't entitled to attorneys or the protection of the Geneva Convention. The ACLU thinks that citizens of the WORLD should be entitled to the protection of the Constitution. Of course, this is insane. These people would wipe their rears with the Constitution if presented with it.

The other group is the La Raza/MEChA/Brown Power movement, who talk really tough but aren't powerful at all without the support of Borderless Bush and his asskissing contingency. Hell, George P. Bush has spoken at La Raza rallies, saying that he will do all that he can to support his race. Even though his dad is white, I think he means his mother's race. Attorney General Gonzales was an esteemed colleague of La Raza.

Think about it: 1000 Minutemen assemble at the border and these people are up in flames over it. If they were really that powerful they probably wouldn't have said anything because the Minuteman presence over 23 miles of Arizona's border wouldn't have mattered.

And then you have the unholy union between the two groups, with the ACLU trying to trip up the Minutemen last month. If the Mechistas had their way they would deport all of the ACLU attorneys to Europe, like they claim they want to do in their maxims.

I hate being called a racist for believing that the southwest belongs to America. The Mexicans were only bitter about losing it after a few motivated settlers of European descent found gold and oil there. Before that they were only too glad to give up what they viewed as barren wasteland. Thanks to this problem, much of the Southwest and California are becoming third world shitholes. I spent 5 years in Texas and never want to go back. L.A. is almost unlivable now, from what I hear and read, and with Mayor Villagrosa it is going to slide into oblivion. Just like the billboard says: Los Angeles, Mexico.

They only exist because of a politically correct attack machine that can sell the notion that anyone who believes that they aren't entitled to "mi tierra" is a racist.

I can't tell you how proud I am that this is happening in my state. I don't care how many Hispanics are in this country, as long as they're here legally. I'm white but I don't care about us losing the majority status eventually. It's bound to happen; we don't want to have kids, period and case closed. But I will not stand idly by and watch everything I went to war for get flushed down the toilet. I will not pay for somebody here illegally to get emergency care at the hospital, especially after my kid gets pushed out of the way. I will not pay for the education of an illegal's child at the expense of my child's quality of education. Most of all, I will not pay taxes to go into the welfare system so that the illegals can have 7 anchor babies.

Let's push to repeal the citizenship of all born in this country to undocumented migrants as well, along with militarizing the borders. If those two amendments are added to this bill, I might support it. But until then McCain and especially Kennedy can kiss my ass.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to read this. The bullshit has to end NOW.

According to the article you linked, Sen. Kyle objected to the word amnesty that appeared over the March 31 article on his proposal. The word amnesty accurately characterizes Sen. Kyl's proposal to grant legal status to millions of illegal aliens. These illegal aliens broke into this country without authorization or overstayed their visas. Instead of following the rules relating to entering this country legally or remaining in this country legally, these illegal aliens chose to intentionally violate this nation's laws. Illlegal aliens should not be rewarded with an amnesty that gives them legal status as Sen. Kyl's proposal does.

In the article you linked, Sen. Kyl states that he "recognize[s] that there are more than ten million illegal immigrants in the United States and that we are in dire need of a realistic policy to deal with them." Sen. Kyl's policy is to reward these millions of illegal aliens
with legal residency.

This nation does not need any new laws relating to employers hiring illegal aliens. As a result of legislation in 1986 and 1996, there are already plenty of laws on the books that prohibit employers from hiring illegal aliens and provide for punishment if they do so.
These laws need to be enforced.

As a result of the intelligence reform bill that passed Congress last year there already is authorization for 10,000 new Border Patrol agents.

I hope Cong. Tancredo and the rest of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus, which is nearly eighty (80) members strong, opposes the Kyl/Cornyn bill. Cong. Tancredo has been calling for large increases in border patrol agents since he came to Congress.

Illegal aliens should voluntarily return home and apply to come to this country legally or they should be deported.

You are exactly right.

Unfortunately, three(3)Repbulican senators, McCain, Brownback and Graham have already joined with Sen. Kennedy to support rewarding illegal aliens with amnesty.

Cong. Tancredo, unlike some other Repbulicans, will not support this proposal by Sen. Kennedy and will oppose any efforts of fellow Republicans to give amnesty to illegal aliens.
