Banker Charged With Assault and Lewdness
The New York Times ^ | May 28, 2005 | By ROBERT D. McFADDEN and JASON GEORGE

Posted on 05/28/2005 7:15:14 AM PDT by aculeus

On a sunny Sunday two weeks ago, a man wearing only a condom leaped out of the bushes along a nature trail in New Jersey and accosted a woman jogging. The jogger turned out to be a police officer and, officials said yesterday, the man turned out to be a vice president of J. P. Morgan Chase.

The touchless confrontation - a swirl of sweaty menace, a counterpoint of pepper spray and a huffing, puffing foot race, with victim pursuing assailant - unfolded about 1:30 p.m. on May 15 along the Henry Hudson Trail in Union Beach, a quiet town on Raritan Bay across from the southern reaches of Staten Island.

After a 500-foot chase along the narrow paved trail, the man threw a T-shirt he was carrying over the license plate of his parked car, jumped in and sped away. But not before the off-duty officer had snatched the shirt away and read the Florida plate number of the gold Ford Taurus to her dispatcher on her cellphone.

Sorry, just another article from the NY Times I won't go to their site to read. Why don't you do what they do-- plagarize the story as your own and reproduce it here the way they do in that rag...?

So, is this perp going to get off lightly? Sounds like with the amount of $$ he's got laying around, he may be able to arrange for 6 months in jail or just house arrest. After all, he is a major bank rich person, and he can't be bothered by inconviniences like this. This perp sounds so dumb, i bet he's got a trophy wall of rubbers. I hope they find enuff evidence to put him away for life or execute...Of course this is a pipe dream that they will nail him hard.

In banks everyone is a vice president. The database admin at a bank I consulted at once was an "assistant vice president".

The title is meaningless in banking.

>>vice president of J. P. Morgan Chase

>>>and he's driving a Ford Taurus?

Speaking from experience, all too much of it, I can attest to this: he is driving a Taurus because he is house poor. All his assets are meathooked by a house befitting his station. There may be a good car, but if there is, his wife or his mother is driving it. 105% of his creditworthiness is tied up in having a house he can invite his rivals into, without being shamed.

Besides, he is only living on the Jersey side because he can't afford to live on the NY side. Meanwhile he is telling his associates that he does it because he's smart, too smart to pay NYC prices for real estate. They all believe it because they all do it.

As for the sex angle, well sure. If you lived the way they do, you'd be kinky too. It has to come out somewhere.

I'll go further and guess that he's divorced, and his ex-wife has the fancy car AND the fancy house in Manhattan, while this guy drives a Taurus and lives in a modest Jersey condo.

Festus, that makes sense now that you put it that way. I remember there being something about VP's and "Senior" VP's.

Gray, I see the logic in your analogy, strangely I do. :o)

and he's driving a Ford Taurus?

In another article it explains that he actually drives a limo to work. He went out and rented the Ford for the assault. In fact, he has a history of renting cars, and they are investigating if he has been assaulting other women.

He's lived here for 10 years, but he still has an Arizona driver's license? Or maybe he's got multiple driver's licenses.

and he's driving a Ford Taurus?

It was a rental.

Anyhow, banks with lots of branches and many accounts are extravagent with the "Vice President" title.

They do it for marketing reasons. Some small business owners are greatly impressed if Bill the manager at the local Chase branch who personally deals with their loan application has "Vice President" on his card.
