I spent some time in the kingdom several years ago working for the Saudi military. A very strange place, but the only place that i know that you can buy REAL Iranian saffron for cheap. I even made it downtown for a shortening up of the neck of a drug dealer one Friday at Noon. It keeps people in line.
I doubt that Fahd's death will change much in the kingdom. They may start to open the society, but women will never drive in my life time. They drive cars like they do camels. It reminds me of New York.

Good riddance to bad rubbish (and prayers that the Prince does not oppress his people.) Prayers also that we begin making friends based on something other than oil. It is time for America to stop supporting these trashy people based on "strategic interests." Alternative energy NOW.
