PIRRO MAKES MOVE TO CHALLENGE HILLARY CLINTON (Press Conference Later Today!)
NewsMax ^ | 5/23/05

Posted on 05/23/2005 10:01:31 AM PDT by areafiftyone

Westchester County District Attorney Jeanine Pirro is expected to announce at a press conference later today that she will not be seeking a fourth term.

New York Republican insiders tell NewsMax that Pirro will soon make known plans to challenge Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton for her seat next year.

In her announcement today, Pirro will indicate she is not running for re-election so that she can "seek a higher office," an insider told NewsMax. Pirro will not explicitly mention Hillary Clinton or a Senate bid.

A source familiar with Pirro's inner circle, however, tells NewsMax that she definitely believes Hillary is vulnerable and that she intends to run against Sen. Clinton next year.

With less than 18 months to go before the 2006 election, only Edward Cox - a prominent attorney and son-in-law to the late President Richard Nixon - has announced his intention to challenge Hillary Clinton.

Cox has already organized a campaign staff and has begun fund raising for his bid.

However, a top New York insider says that Pirro has already received the tacit support of Gov. George Pataki, who had been backing Cox.

The national Republican committee and White House may have played a role in persuading Pirro to run.

Pirro's challenge against Clinton may be an uphill battle.

Sen. Clinton's approval rating among New York voters approaches 70 percent in recent polls.

But 65 percent of her supporters also say they want her to pledge not to run for president in 2008 - something Clinton has so far been unwilling to do.

A frequent television commentator, Mrs. Pirro began her career in law enforcement as a prosecutor in Westchester more than 25 years ago, according to an online biography.

In 1978, she headed the county's first domestic violence unit, one of only four in the nation, and was later elected the first woman jurist to sit on the Westchester County Court bench.

Mrs. Pirro's High Technology Crimes unit has won plaudits nationwide for its work against pedophiles and child pornographers who use the Internet to prey on children.

It might be an interesting Senate race this year though. Even though we both know she's going to win - it will be fun to see a real race for a change.

As opposed to all those Republicans voting for a leftist like Schumer?

Pirro is a skank but there aren't too many recognizable candidates up there. She'll definitely hook the Greta van Susteran crowd.

That was sickening wasn't it? I am looking forward to some good debates though at least. Lazio didn't have a chance coming into the race at the last minute (which was not his fault). I don't think he had the Republican party really backing him up. I think the Republicans really want to beat Hillary this time and we might have a slim chance of doing it. I know I'm being hopeful. ;-)

Can anyone beat the Hildabeast in 06 and would it be better if she actually was in office for 08?

If she loses in 06, she'll have full time to run for POTUS starting the day after she loses in NY.

Hillary is the end of the world. If she wins in 08, will she wear a dress to the inauguration? A jock strap?

Why not Hildabeaste? That would be just one more lie among the hundreds (thousands?).

After awhile it almost becomes pathological, doesn't it?

70 per cent of New Yorkers are unfortunately duped.

If she loses in 06, what credibility will she have to run for office full time for 2 years? As a one-term failed senator who rode her decadent president-husband's coattails into power against a younger, last-minute candidate?

"Bubba already has his ball dress picked out."

Billy will do whatever it takes to make sure that Hillary stays in the Senate. He needs her to be in DC, so he can practice taking off the dresses of young women throughout the great state of New York.

"Pirro is a skank ...."

Why do you call her that? I don't live there, so most I know of her is from TV, but she seems like a smart, tough lady that I wouldn't mind having in my corner.

...will she wear a dress to the inauguration...

It won't be an inauguration, it'll be a coronation (or a coven)......

No one is as shrill as Hil. Personally I like Pirro. She's a sharp cookie and could no doubt outdebate the Beast. Seems pretty fast on her feet.
